And it came to pass, at the time of the return of the year, at the time of the going out of the kings, that Joab led the force of the army, and destroyed the land of the sons of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. And David was dwelling in Jerusalem. And Joab smote Rabbah, and tore it down.
And David took the crown of their king from off his head, and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and in it was a precious stone; and it was upon the head of David. And the spoil of the city he brought out, very much.
And the people that were in it he brought out, and cut them with the saw, and with the sharp tools of iron, and with the axes. And thus David did to all the cities of the sons of Ammon. And David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.
And it came to pass after this, that there stood up war at Gezer with the Philistines; then Sibbecai the Hushathite smote Sippai, of the children of the Rephaim; and they were subdued.
And there was again war with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair smote Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, and the shaft of his spear was like a weaver's beam.
And there was again war at Gath; and there was a man (ish) of stature, and his fingers and his toes were six and six, twenty-four; and he also was born to the giant.
And he reproached Israel, and Jonathan the son of Shimea, David's brother, smote him.
These were born to the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
