And David said, "This is the house of YHWH God, and this is the altar of burnt offering for Israel."
And David said to gather the sojourners that were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to hew stones of hewing to build the house of God.
And iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the couplings, David prepared; and bronze in abundance, without weight;
and cedar trees without number; for the Sidonians and the Tyrians brought cedar trees in abundance to David.
And David said, "Solomon my son is a youth and tender, and the house to be built for YHWH must be exceedingly great, for a name and for glory throughout all the lands; let me now prepare for it." And David prepared in abundance before his death.
And he called for Solomon his son, and commanded (tzivvah) him to build a house for YHWH, the God of Israel.
And David said to Solomon, "My son, as for me, it was in my heart to build a house for the name of YHWH my God.
But the word of YHWH came upon me, saying, 'You have shed blood in abundance, and have made great wars; you shall not build a house for my name, because much blood you have shed to the earth before me.
Behold, a son will be born to you; he will be a man (ish) of rest, and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about; for Solomon will be his name, and peace and quietness I will give upon Israel in his days.
He will build a house for my name; and he will be to me for a son, and I will be to him for a father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.
Now, my son, may YHWH be with you; and may you prosper, and build the house of YHWH your God, as He has spoken concerning you.
Only may YHWH give you discretion and understanding, and command (tzivvah) you concerning Israel, and that you keep the Torah of YHWH your God.
Then you will prosper, if you keep to do the statutes (chuqqim) and the judgments (mishpat) which YHWH commanded (tzivvah) Moses concerning Israel. Be strong and courageous; do not fear, and do not be dismayed.
And behold, in my affliction I have prepared for the house of YHWH gold, a hundred thousand talents, and silver, a thousand thousand talents; and for the bronze and for the iron there is no weight, for it is in abundance; and timber and stones I have prepared, and to them you may add.
And with you in abundance are doers of work, hewers and craftsmen of stone and timber, and every wise man in every kind of work.
Of the gold, of the silver, and of the bronze, and of the iron, there is no number. Arise and do, and may YHWH be with you."
And David commanded (tzivvah) all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son:
"Is not YHWH your God with you? And has He not given you rest round about? For He has given into my hand the inhabitants of the land, and the land is subdued before YHWH, and before His people.
Now set your heart and your soul (nephesh) to seek YHWH your God; and arise and build the sanctuary of YHWH God, to bring the ark of the covenant (berit) of YHWH, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is built for the name of YHWH."
