And David spoke to YHWH the words of this song in the day that YHWH delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.
And he said: YHWH is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer for me;
God of my rock, in him I take refuge; my shield and the horn of my salvation (yeshuah), my high tower and my refuge, my savior (yasha) — from violence you save me (yasha).
Praised, I call to YHWH, and from my enemies I am saved (yasha).
For the breakers of death surrounded me; the torrents of belial terrified me.
The cords of Sheol surrounded me; the snares of death confronted me.
In my distress I call to YHWH, and to my God I call; and he hears my voice from his temple, and my cry comes into his ears.
And the earth shook and quaked; the foundations of the heavens trembled and were shaken, because he was angry.
Smoke went up in his nostrils, and fire from his mouth devoured; coals were kindled from it.
And he bowed the heavens and came down, and thick darkness was under his feet.
And he rode upon a cherub and flew; and he was seen upon the wings of the spirit (ruach).
And he set darkness around him as booths, a gathering of waters, thick clouds of the skies.
From the brightness before him coals of fire were kindled.
YHWH thundered from the heavens, and the Most High (Elyon) gave forth his voice.
And he sent out arrows and scattered them, lightning and confounded them.
And the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were laid bare, by the rebuke of YHWH, from the breath (neshamah) of the spirit (ruach) of his nostrils.
He sends from on high, he takes me; he draws me out of many waters.
He delivers me from my strong enemy, from those who hate me, for they were too mighty for me.
They confronted me in the day of my calamity, but YHWH was a support for me.
And he brought me out into a broad place; he delivers me, because he delighted in me.
YHWH deals with me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he repays me.
For I have kept the ways of YHWH, and have not acted wickedly against my God.
For all his judgments (mishpat) are before me; and his statutes (chuqqot), I do not turn aside from them.
And I was blameless toward him, and I kept myself from my iniquity.
And YHWH repaid me according to my righteousness, according to my cleanness before his eyes.
With the merciful you show yourself merciful; with the blameless mighty man you show yourself blameless;
with the pure you show yourself pure, and with the crooked you show yourself perverse.
And an afflicted people you save (yasha); but your eyes are upon the haughty, that you may bring them down.
For you are my lamp, O YHWH; and YHWH lightens my darkness.
For by you I run upon a troop; by my God I leap over a wall.
God — his way is blameless; the word of YHWH is refined; he is a shield to all who take refuge in him.
For who is God except YHWH? And who is a rock except our God?
God is my strong fortress, and he sets my way free, blameless;
making my feet like the hinds', and upon my high places he makes me stand;
training my hands for war, and my arms bend a bow of bronze.
And you gave me the shield of your salvation (yeshuah), and your humility makes me great.
You enlarge my step under me, and my ankles do not slip.
I pursue my enemies and destroy them, and I do not turn back until they are consumed.
And I consume them and shatter them, and they do not rise; and they fall under my feet.
And you gird me with strength for war; you bow down under me those who rise against me.
And my enemies — you have given me the neck; those who hate me, I cut them off.
They look, but there is none saving (yasha); to YHWH, but he did not answer them.
And I beat them small as the dust (aphar) of the earth; as the mire of the streets I crush them, I tread them down.
And you deliver me from the strivings of my people; you keep me as the head of nations; a people I did not know serve me (avad).
The sons of the foreigner cringe to me; at the hearing of the ear they obey me.
The sons of the foreigner wither, and come trembling out of their strongholds.
YHWH lives (chai), and blessed is my rock; and exalted is the God of the rock of my salvation (yeshuah).
The God who gives vengeances to me, and brings down peoples under me;
and who brings me out from my enemies; and above those who rise against me you lift me up; from the man (ish) of violences you deliver me.
Therefore I give thanks to you, O YHWH, among the nations, and to your name I sing praises.
A tower of salvations (yeshuah) is his king; and showing lovingkindness to his anointed, to David and to his seed, forever.
