And we turned, and went up the way of Bashan; and Og the king of Bashan came out to meet us, he and all his people, to the battle at Edrei.
And YHWH said to me, "Do not fear him, for into your hand I have given him, and all his people, and his land; and you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon."
And YHWH our God gave into our hand also Og the king of Bashan, and all his people; and we struck him until none was left to him remaining.
And we captured all his cities at that time; there was not a city which we did not take from them: sixty cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
All these were fortified cities, with a high wall, gates, and bar; besides the unwalled towns, very many.
And we utterly destroyed them, as we did to Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying every city — the men, and the women, and the little ones.
But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, we took as plunder for ourselves.
And we took at that time the land out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, from the valley of Arnon to mount Hermon —
(the Sidonians call Hermon Sirion, and the Amorites call it Senir) —
all the cities of the plain, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, to Salcah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of the Rephaim; behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbah of the children of Ammon? Nine cubits its length, and four cubits its breadth, by the cubit of a man (ish).
And this land we took in possession at that time; from Aroer, which is by the valley of Arnon, and half the hill country of Gilead, and its cities, I gave to the Reubenites and to the Gadites.
And the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob — all that Bashan is called the land of Rephaim.
Jair the son of Manasseh took all the region of Argob, to the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and called them, even Bashan, after his own name, Havvoth-jair, to this day.
And to Machir I gave Gilead.
And to the Reubenites and to the Gadites I gave from Gilead even to the valley of Arnon, the middle of the valley as a border, even to the Jabbok, the valley, the border of the children of Ammon;
and the Arabah, and the Jordan as a border, from Chinnereth even to the sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, under the slopes of Pisgah eastward.
And I commanded (tzivvah) you at that time, saying, "YHWH your God has given to you this land to possess it; armed you shall pass over before your brothers the children of Israel, all the sons of valor.
Only your wives (ishah), and your little ones, and your cattle — I know that you have much cattle — shall dwell in your cities which I have given to you;
until YHWH gives rest to your brothers, as to you, and they also possess the land which YHWH your God is giving to them beyond the Jordan; then you shall return, each man (ish) to his possession which I have given to you."
And Joshua I commanded (tzivvah) at that time, saying, "Your eyes are the ones that have seen all that YHWH your God has done to these two kings; so will YHWH do to all the kingdoms to which you are passing over.
You shall not fear them; for YHWH your God, he is the one fighting for you."
And I made supplication to YHWH at that time, saying,
"My Lord (Adonai) YHWH, you have begun to show your servant your greatness, and your strong hand; for who is a god in the heavens or on the earth who can do according to your works and according to your mighty acts?
Let me pass over, I pray, and see the good land which is beyond the Jordan, that good hill country, and the Lebanon."
But YHWH was angry with me for your sakes, and did not listen to me; and YHWH said to me, "Enough for you; do not continue to speak to me again of this matter.
Go up to the top of Pisgah, and lift up your eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and see with your eyes; for you shall not pass over this Jordan.
But command (tzivvah) Joshua, and strengthen him, and make him firm; for he shall pass over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which you shall see."
And we dwelt in the valley opposite Beth-peor.
