1For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under the heavens.
2A time to give birth, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to uproot what is planted;
3A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build;
4A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5A time to cast stones, and a time to gather stones; a time to embrace, and a time to be far from embracing;
6A time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7A time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to be silent, and a time to speak;
8A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
9What profit is there to the one who does in that which he labors?
10I have seen the task that God has given to the sons of man (adam) to be afflicted with.
11He has made everything beautiful in its time; also eternity He has set in their heart, without which man (adam) cannot find out the work that God has done from beginning even to the end.
12I knew that there is nothing good in them, except to rejoice and to do good in his life (chai).
13And also every man (adam) who eats and drinks and sees good in all his labor, it is the gift of God.
14I knew that all that God does, it will be forever; upon it there is nothing to add, and from it there is nothing to take away; and God has done it that they should fear before Him.
15What has been is already, and what is to be has already been; and God seeks the pursued.
16And moreover I saw under the sun: the place of judgment (mishpat), there was wickedness; and the place of righteousness, there was wickedness.
17I said, I, in my heart, "The righteous and the wicked God will judge; for there is a time for every matter, and concerning every work, there."
18I said, I, in my heart, concerning the speech of the sons of man (adam), that God may sift them, and to see that they themselves are beasts, they.
19For the event of the sons of man (adam) and the event of the beast, even one event is to them; as the death of this, so the death of that; and one spirit (ruach) is to all; and the advantage of man (adam) over the beast is nothing, for all is vanity.
20All go to one place; all came from the dust (aphar), and all return to the dust (aphar).
21Who knows the spirit (ruach) of the sons of man (adam), whether it goes upward, and the spirit (ruach) of the beast, whether it goes downward to the earth?
22And I saw that there is nothing good than that man (adam) should rejoice in his works, for that is his portion; for who will bring him to see what will be after him?
