1And the word of YHWH came to me, saying:
2"Son of man (adam), you dwell in the midst of the rebellious house, who have eyes to see and do not see, who have ears to hear and do not hear; for they are a rebellious house.
3And you, son of man (adam), prepare for yourself baggage for exile, and go into exile by day in their sight; and you shall remove from your place to another place in their sight; perhaps they will see, for they are a rebellious house.
4And you shall bring out your baggage as baggage for exile by day in their sight; and you yourself shall go forth in the evening in their sight, as those who go forth into exile.
5In their sight dig for yourself through the wall, and bring out through it.
6In their sight, upon your shoulder you shall carry it; in the darkness you shall bring it out; you shall cover your face and not see the land; for I have made you a wonder (mofet) to the house of Israel."
7And I did so, as I was commanded (tzivvah): my baggage I brought out as baggage for exile by day, and in the evening I dug for myself through the wall with my hand; in the darkness I brought it out; upon my shoulder I carried it in their sight.
8And the word of YHWH came to me in the morning, saying:
9"Son of man (adam), has not the house of Israel, the rebellious house, said to you: 'What are you doing?'
10Say to them: Thus says my Lord (Adonai) YHWH: This burden concerns the prince in Jerusalem, and all the house of Israel among whom they are.
11Say: I am your wonder (mofet); as I have done, so shall it be done to them—into exile, into captivity they shall go.
12And the prince who is among them shall carry upon his shoulder in the darkness and go forth; through the wall they shall dig to bring out through it; he shall cover his face, because he shall not see the land with his eye.
13And I will spread my net over him, and he shall be caught in my snare; and I will bring him to Babylon, the land of the Chaldeans; yet he shall not see it, and there he shall die.
14And all who are around him, his help, and all his troops, I will scatter to every spirit (ruach); and I will draw out a sword after them.
15And they shall know that I am YHWH, when I scatter them among the nations and disperse them in the countries.
16But I will leave of them a few men (ish) in number, from the sword, from the famine, and from the pestilence; that they may recount all their abominations among the nations where they come; and they shall know that I am YHWH."
17And the word of YHWH came to me, saying:
18"Son of man (adam), your bread you shall eat with quaking, and your water you shall drink with trembling and with anxiety;
19and you shall say to the people of the land: Thus says my Lord (Adonai) YHWH concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem, upon the ground (adamah) of Israel: their bread they shall eat with anxiety, and their water they shall drink with appalment, that her land may be desolate of its fullness, because of the violence of all who dwell in it.
20And the inhabited cities shall be laid waste, and the land shall become a desolation; and you shall know that I am YHWH."
21And the word of YHWH came to me, saying:
22"Son of man (adam), what is this proverb that you have upon the ground (adamah) of Israel, saying: 'The days are prolonged, and every vision perishes'?
23Therefore say to them: Thus says my Lord (Adonai) YHWH: I will cause this proverb to shabbat, and they shall no more use it as a proverb in Israel; but say to them: The days have drawn near, and the word of every vision.
24For there shall no longer be any vain vision nor smooth divination within the house of Israel.
25For I am YHWH; I will speak the word that I speak, and it shall be done; it shall no longer be delayed; for in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak a word and perform it, the utterance of my Lord (Adonai) YHWH."
26And the word of YHWH came to me, saying:
27"Son of man (adam), behold, the house of Israel are saying: 'The vision that he sees is for many days off, and for far-off times he prophesies.'
28Therefore say to them: Thus says my Lord (Adonai) YHWH: None of my words shall be delayed any longer; the word that I speak shall be done, the utterance of my Lord (Adonai) YHWH."
