Ezekiel 16

Yeshua Literal Version (YLV)

And the word of YHWH came to me, saying:

Son of man (adam), make known to Jerusalem her abominations,

and you shall say: Thus says my Lord (Adonai) YHWH to Jerusalem: Your origins and your birth are from the land of the Canaanite; your father was the Amorite, and your mother a Hittite.

And as for your birth, in the day you were born your navel was not cut, and in water you were not washed for cleansing, and you were not salted at all, and you were not swaddled at all.

No eye pitied you, to do for you one of these, to have compassion upon you; but you were cast out onto the face of the field, in the loathing of your soul (nephesh), in the day you were born.

And I passed by you, and I saw you trampling in your blood, and I said to you, In your blood, live! And I said to you, In your blood, live!

A myriad, like the growth of the field, I made you, and you increased and grew and came into excellent ornament; breasts were formed, and your hair grew, yet you were naked and bare.

And I passed by you, and I saw you, and behold, your time was the time of love; and I spread my wing over you, and I covered your nakedness; and I swore to you, and I entered into a covenant (berit) with you, declares my Lord (Adonai) YHWH, and you became mine.

And I washed you with water, and I rinsed your blood from upon you, and I anointed you with oil.

And I clothed you with embroidered work, and I shod you with leather, and I wrapped you in fine linen, and I covered you with silk.

And I adorned you with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon your hands, and a chain upon your neck.

And I put a ring upon your nose, and earrings upon your ears, and a crown of beauty upon your head.

And you adorned yourself with gold and silver, and your clothing was fine linen and silk and embroidered work; fine flour and honey and oil you ate; and you became exceedingly, exceedingly beautiful, and you prospered into royalty.

And a name went forth for you among the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect through my splendor that I had set upon you, declares my Lord (Adonai) YHWH.

But you trusted in your beauty, and you played the harlot because of your name, and you poured out your harlotries upon every one passing by — to him it was.

And you took of your garments, and you made for yourself high places of varied colors, and you played the harlot upon them — such as shall not come, nor shall it be.

And you took the vessels of your beauty, of my gold and of my silver which I had given to you, and you made for yourself images of a male, and you played the harlot with them.

And you took your embroidered garments, and you covered them; and my oil and my incense you set before them.

And my bread that I gave to you — fine flour and oil and honey I fed you — you set before them for a soothing aroma; and so it was, declares my Lord (Adonai) YHWH.

And you took your sons and your daughters whom you had borne to me, and you sacrificed them to them to be devoured. Were your harlotries a small thing,

that you slaughtered my sons, and gave them up, in passing them over to them?

And in all your abominations and your harlotries you did not remember the days of your youth, when you were naked and bare, trampling in your blood you were.

And it came to pass, after all your evil — woe, woe to you! declares my Lord (Adonai) YHWH —

that you built for yourself a mound, and you made for yourself a high place in every street.

At every head of the way you built your high place, and you made your beauty an abomination, and you spread your legs to every one passing by, and you multiplied your harlotries.

And you played the harlot with the sons of Egypt, your neighbors, great of flesh (basar); and you multiplied your harlotry, to provoke me.

And behold, I stretched out my hand against you, and I diminished your statute (choq), and I gave you to the soul (nephesh) of those who hate you, the daughters of the Philistines, who are ashamed of your lewd way.

And you played the harlot with the sons of Asshur, because you were not satisfied; and you played the harlot with them, and also you were not satisfied.

And you multiplied your harlotry to the land of Canaan, toward Chaldea; and also with this you were not satisfied.

How weak is your heart, declares my Lord (Adonai) YHWH, in your doing all these — the deed of a domineering harlot woman (ishah)!

In your building your mound at the head of every way, and your high place you made in every street; yet you were not like the harlot, in scorning a fee.

The woman (ishah) who commits adultery — instead of her husband (ish) she takes strangers!

To all harlots they give a gift, but you gave your gifts to all your lovers, and you bribed them to come to you from around, in your harlotries.

And the contrary was in you, opposite from the women (ishah) in your harlotries, for after you none played the harlot; and in your giving a fee, while a fee was not given to you, so you became contrary.

Therefore, harlot, hear the word of YHWH!

Thus says my Lord (Adonai) YHWH: Because your bronze was poured out, and your nakedness was uncovered in your harlotries upon your lovers, and upon all the idols of your abominations, and like the blood of your sons whom you gave to them;

therefore behold, I am gathering all your lovers, to whom you were pleasing, and all whom you loved, with all whom you hated; and I will gather them against you from around, and I will uncover your nakedness to them, and they shall see all your nakedness.

And I will judge you with the judgments (mishpat) of women who commit adultery and who shed blood; and I will give you the blood of fury and jealousy.

And I will give you into their hand, and they shall tear down your mound, and they shall break down your high places; and they shall strip you of your garments, and take the vessels of your beauty, and leave you naked and bare.

And they shall bring up against you an assembly, and they shall stone you with stones, and cut you through with their swords.

And they shall burn your houses with fire, and execute against you judgments before the eyes of many women (ishah); and I will make you cease from being a harlot, and also a fee you shall give no more.

And I will cause my fury to rest in you, and my jealousy shall depart from you, and I will be quiet, and not be angry any more.

Because you did not remember the days of your youth, and you enraged me in all these — therefore behold, I also, behold, have brought your way upon your head, declares my Lord (Adonai) YHWH; and have you not done this lewdness above all your abominations?

Behold, every one who uses a proverb shall use a proverb against you, saying, As the mother, so her daughter.

You are the daughter of your mother who loathed her husband (ish) and her sons; and you are the sister of your sisters, who loathed their husbands (ish) and their sons; your mother was a Hittite, and your father an Amorite.

And your elder sister is Samaria, she and her daughters, who dwells at your left; and your younger sister, who dwells at your right, is Sodom and her daughters.

Yet you did not walk in their ways, and according to their abominations you did do — as a little, a trifle — but you became more corrupt than they in all your ways.

As I live (chai), declares my Lord (Adonai) YHWH, Sodom your sister has not done, she and her daughters, as you have done, you and your daughters.

Behold, this was the iniquity of Sodom your sister: pride, fullness of bread, and careless ease were hers and her daughters'; but the hand of the poor and needy she did not strengthen.

And they were haughty, and they did abomination before me; so I removed them, as I saw.

And Samaria did not sin as half of your sins; and you multiplied your abominations more than they, and you justified your sisters by all your abominations that you did.

Also you, bear your disgrace, which you adjudged for your sister; in your sins which you made more abominable than they, they are more righteous than you; and also you, be ashamed, and bear your disgrace, in your justifying your sisters.

And I will turn back their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, and the captivity of your captives in their midst;

in order that you may bear your disgrace, and be ashamed of all that you have done, in your comforting them.

And your sisters, Sodom and her daughters, shall return to their former state, and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former state, and you and your daughters shall return to your former state.

And was not Sodom your sister for a report in your mouth, in the day of your pride,

before your evil was uncovered — like the time of the reproach of the daughters of Aram, and all those around her, the daughters of the Philistines, who despised you from around?

Your lewdness and your abominations — you have borne them, declares YHWH.

For thus says my Lord (Adonai) YHWH: And I will deal with you as you have done, you who despised the oath, to break the covenant (berit).

But I myself will remember my covenant (berit) with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish for you an everlasting covenant (berit).

And you shall remember your ways, and be ashamed, when you receive your sisters, those greater than you, with those lesser than you; and I will give them to you for daughters, but not from your covenant (berit).

And I myself will establish my covenant (berit) with you, and you shall know that I am YHWH;

in order that you may remember and be ashamed, and there be no more for you an opening of the mouth, because of your disgrace, when I make atonement for you for all that you have done, declares my Lord (Adonai) YHWH.
