Genesis 15

Yeshua Literal Version (YLV)

After these things the word of YHWH came to Abram in a vision, saying, "Fear not, Abram; I am a shield to you, your reward is exceedingly great."

And Abram said, "My Lord (Adonai) YHWH, what will you give me, seeing I go childless, and the son of the possession of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?"

And Abram said, "Behold, to me you have given no seed, and behold, a son of my house is inheriting me."

And behold, the word of YHWH came to him, saying, "This one shall not inherit you; but one who comes out from your own bowels, he shall inherit you."

And he brought him outside, and said, "Look now toward the heavens, and count the stars, if you are able to count them." And he said to him, "So shall your seed be."

And he believed in YHWH; and he counted it to him for righteousness.

And he said to him, "I am YHWH who brought you out from Ur of the Chaldeans, to give you this land to inherit it."

And he said, "My Lord (Adonai) YHWH, by what shall I know that I shall inherit it?"

And he said to him, "Take for me a heifer three years old, and a she-goat three years old, and a ram three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon."

And he took for him all these, and divided them in the middle, and laid each (ish) piece opposite its fellow; but the bird he did not divide.

And the birds of prey came down upon the carcasses, and Abram drove them away.

And it came to pass, as the sun was going down, that a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, a dread, a great darkness, was falling upon him.

And he said to Abram, "Knowing you shall know that your seed shall be a sojourner in a land not theirs, and they shall serve (avad) them, and they shall afflict them four hundred years;

and also the nation whom they shall serve (avad), I am judging; and afterward they shall come out with great possessions.

And you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried in a good old age.

And in the fourth generation they shall return here; for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet complete."

And it came to pass, when the sun had gone down and there was thick darkness, that behold, a smoking furnace and a torch of fire that passed between these pieces.

In that day YHWH cut a covenant (berit) with Abram, saying, "To your seed I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates:

the Kenite, and the Kenizzite, and the Kadmonite,

and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Rephaim,

and the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Girgashite, and the Jebusite."
