And Abram was a son of ninety years and nine years, and YHWH appeared to Abram and said to him, "I am God Almighty (El Shaddai); walk before me and be blameless.
And I will give my covenant (berit) between me and between you, and will multiply you exceedingly, exceedingly."
And Abram fell upon his face, and God spoke with him, saying,
"As for me, behold, my covenant (berit) is with you, and you shall become a father of a multitude of nations.
And your name shall no more be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for a father of a multitude of nations I have made you.
And I will make you exceedingly, exceedingly fruitful, and I will make you into nations, and kings shall come out of you.
And I will establish my covenant (berit) between me and between you and between your seed after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant (berit), to be God to you and to your seed after you.
And I will give to you, and to your seed after you, the land of your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God."
And God said to Abraham, "And you, you shall keep my covenant (berit), you and your seed after you throughout their generations.
This is my covenant (berit) which you shall keep, between me and you and between your seed after you: every male among you shall be circumcised.
And you shall circumcise the flesh (basar) of your foreskin, and it shall be for a sign (ot) of a covenant (berit) between me and you.
And a son of eight days shall be circumcised among you, every male throughout your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money from any son of a foreigner, who is not of your seed.
He that is born in your house, and he that is bought with your money, must surely be circumcised; and my covenant (berit) shall be in your flesh (basar) for an everlasting covenant (berit).
And an uncircumcised male, who does not circumcise the flesh (basar) of his foreskin, that soul (nephesh) shall be cut off from his peoples; he has broken my covenant (berit)."
And God said to Abraham, "As for Sarai your wife (ishah), you shall not call her name Sarai, for Sarah is her name.
And I will bless her, and moreover I will give to you a son from her; and I will bless her, and she shall become nations; kings of peoples shall be from her."
And Abraham fell upon his face and laughed, and said in his heart, "Shall a child be born to one who is a son of a hundred years? And shall Sarah, who is a daughter of ninety years, bear?"
And Abraham said to God, "Oh that Ishmael might live before you!"
And God said, "Truly, Sarah your wife (ishah) is bearing you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; and I will establish my covenant (berit) with him for an everlasting covenant (berit) for his seed after him.
And as for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly, exceedingly; twelve princes he shall beget, and I will make him into a great nation.
But my covenant (berit) I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this appointed time (moed) in the next year."
And he finished speaking with him, and God went up from upon Abraham.
And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men (ish) of Abraham's house, and circumcised the flesh (basar) of their foreskin in the very same day, as God had spoken with him.
And Abraham was a son of ninety years and nine years when he was circumcised in the flesh (basar) of his foreskin.
And Ishmael his son was a son of thirteen years when he was circumcised in the flesh (basar) of his foreskin.
In the very same day Abraham was circumcised, and Ishmael his son.
And all the men (ish) of his house, born in the house and bought with money from a son of a foreigner, were circumcised with him.
