Genesis 39

Yeshua Literal Version (YLV)

And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, the chief of the guard, an Egyptian man (ish), bought him from the hand of the Ishmaelites who had brought him down there.

And YHWH was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man (ish); and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

And his master saw that YHWH was with him, and that all that he did YHWH made to prosper in his hand.

And Joseph found favor in his eyes, and ministered to him; and he appointed him over his house, and all that he had he gave into his hand.

And it came to pass, from the time he appointed him over his house and over all that he had, that YHWH blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of YHWH was on all that he had, in the house and in the field.

And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew nothing of what was with him except the bread which he ate. And Joseph was beautiful of form and beautiful of appearance.

And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife (ishah) lifted up her eyes to Joseph; and she said, "Lie with me."

And he refused, and said to his master's wife (ishah), "Behold, my master does not know what is with me in the house, and all that he has he has given into my hand.

There is none greater in this house than I, and he has not kept back from me anything except you, since you are his wife (ishah); and how can I do this great evil, and sin against God?"

And it came to pass, as she spoke to Joseph day by day, that he did not listen to her, to lie beside her, to be with her.

And it came to pass, on a certain day, that he went into the house to do his work, and there was no man (ish) of the men (ish) of the house there in the house.

And she caught him by his garment, saying, "Lie with me." And he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and went outside.

And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and had fled outside,

that she called to the men (ish) of her house, and spoke to them, saying, "See, he has brought in to us a Hebrew man (ish) to mock us; he came in to me to lie with me, and I cried out with a loud voice.

And it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried out, that he left his garment beside me, and fled, and went outside."

And she laid up his garment beside her, ad(עד) his master came to his house.

And she spoke to him according to these words, saying, "The Hebrew servant whom you brought to us came in to me to mock me;

and it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried out, that he left his garment beside me, and fled outside."

And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife (ishah) which she spoke to him, saying, "According to these words your servant did to me," that his anger was kindled.

And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison-house, the place where the king's prisoners were bound; and he was there in the prison-house.

And YHWH was with Joseph, and extended kindness to him, and gave him favor in the eyes of the keeper of the prison-house.

And the keeper of the prison-house gave into Joseph's hand all the prisoners who were in the prison-house; and all that they did there, he was the doer.

The keeper of the prison-house did not look to anything in his hand, because YHWH was with him; and that which he did, YHWH made to prosper.
