Habakkuk 2

Yeshua Literal Version (YLV)

Upon my watch (mishmeret) I will stand, and station myself upon the rampart; and I will keep watch to see what he will speak in me, and what I shall answer concerning my reproof.

And YHWH answered me and said, "Write the vision, and make it plain upon the tablets, that the one reading it may run.

For the vision is yet for the appointed time (moed), and it pants toward the end, and does not lie; if it tarries, wait for it, for coming it will come, it will not delay.

Behold, the puffed up—his soul (nephesh) is not upright within him; but the righteous shall live (chai) by his faith.

And moreover, the wine is treacherous; a proud man does not abide—he who enlarges his soul (nephesh) like Sheol, and he is like death and is not satisfied; and he gathers to himself all the nations, and collects to himself all the peoples.

Shall not all these take up a proverb against him, and a taunting riddle against him, and say, "Woe to him who multiplies what is not his—how long?—and who loads himself with pledges!"

Shall not your biters rise up suddenly, and those who shake you awake, and you become a spoil to them?

Because you have plundered many nations, all the remnant of the peoples shall plunder you—because of the blood of man (adam), and the violence done to the land, the city, and all who dwell in it.

Woe to him who gains an evil gain for his house, to set his nest on high, to be delivered from the hand of evil!

You have devised shame for your house, cutting off many peoples, and sinning against your soul (nephesh).

For a stone cries out from the wall, and a beam from the timber answers it.

Woe to him who builds a city with blood, and establishes a town with iniquity!

Behold, is it not from YHWH of hosts (tzevaot) that peoples labor for the fire, and nations weary themselves for emptiness?

For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of YHWH, as the waters cover the sea.

Woe to him who gives his neighbor drink—you who pour out your wrath, and also make him drunk—in order to look on their nakedness!

You are filled with shame instead of glory; drink, you also, and be uncovered! The cup of YHWH's right hand shall come around upon you, and disgrace upon your glory.

For the violence done to Lebanon shall cover you, and the destruction of beasts that terrified them—because of the blood of man (adam), and the violence done to the land, the city, and all who dwell in it.

What profits a carved image, that its maker has carved it—a molten image and a teacher of falsehood—that the fashioner of his fashioned thing trusts in it, to make mute idols?

Woe to him who says to the wood, "Awake!", to the silent stone, "Arise!" Shall it teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no spirit (ruach) at all in its midst.

But YHWH is in his holy temple; let all the earth keep silence before him.
