Hear this, O priests, and attend, house of Israel, and give ear, house of the king; for the judgment (mishpat) is for you, for you have been a snare at Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.
And in slaughtering the revolters have gone deep, but I am a discipline to them all.
I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hidden from me; for now you have played the harlot, Ephraim — Israel is defiled.
Their deeds do not allow them to return to their God, for a spirit (ruach) of harlotries is within them, and YHWH they do not know.
And the pride of Israel testifies to his face; and Israel and Ephraim stumble in their iniquity; Judah also stumbles with them.
With their flock and with their herd they go to seek YHWH, but they do not find him; he has withdrawn from them.
Against YHWH they have dealt treacherously, for they have begotten strange children; now a new moon shall devour them with their portions.
Blow the horn in Gibeah, the trumpet in Ramah; sound an alarm at Beth-aven — behind you, Benjamin!
Ephraim shall become a desolation in the day of rebuke; among the tribes of Israel I have made known what is sure.
The princes of Judah have become like those who move a boundary; upon them I will pour out my wrath like water.
Ephraim is oppressed, crushed in judgment (mishpat), for he was willing to walk after a command (tzivvah).
And I am like a moth to Ephraim, and like rottenness to the house of Judah.
And Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his wound, and Ephraim went to Assyria and sent to king Jareb; but he is not able to heal you, and he will not cure you of your wound.
For I am like a lion to Ephraim, and like a young lion to the house of Judah; I, even I, will tear and go, I will carry off, and there is none to deliver.
I will go, I will return to my place, until they acknowledge their guilt and seek my face; in their distress they will seek me earnestly.
