1In the year that the Tartan came to Ashdod, when Sargon king of Assyria sent him, and he fought against Ashdod and captured it,
2at that time YHWH spoke by the hand of Isaiah son of Amoz, saying, "Go and loosen the sackcloth from upon your loins, and your sandal you will remove from upon your foot." And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.
3And YHWH said, "Just as my servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot three years, a sign (ot) and a wonder (mofet) against Egypt and against Cush,
4so will the king of Assyria lead away the captivity of Egypt and the exile of Cush, young and old, naked and barefoot, with buttocks uncovered, the nakedness of Egypt.
5And they will be dismayed and ashamed because of Cush their hope and Egypt their glory.
6And the inhabitant of this coastland will say in that day, "Behold, thus is our hope, to where we fled for help, to be delivered from before the king of Assyria; and how will we ourselves escape?"
