Joel 2

Yeshua Literal Version (YLV)

Blow a horn in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain; let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, for the day of YHWH comes, for it is near:

a day of darkness and gloom, a day of cloud and thick darkness; like dawn spread upon the mountains, a great and mighty people; like it there has not been from of old, and after it there shall not be again, to the years of generation and generation.

Before it a fire devours, and behind it a flame blazes; like the garden of Eden is the land before it, and behind it a desolate wilderness; and also there is no escape from it.

Like the appearance of horses is its appearance, and like horsemen, so they run.

Like the sound of chariots on the tops of the mountains they leap, like the sound of a flame of fire devouring stubble, like a mighty people set in array for battle.

Before it peoples writhe; all faces have gathered paleness.

Like mighty men they run, like men (ish) of war they climb the wall; and each (ish) goes in his ways, and they do not entangle their paths.

And each does not thrust his brother; each man goes in his highway; and through the weapon they fall, they are not cut off.

In the city they rush about, on the wall they run; into the houses they climb up; through the windows they enter like the thief.

Before it the earth quakes, the heavens tremble; the sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars gather in their brightness.

And YHWH gives his voice before his army; for his camp is very great, for mighty is the doer of his word; for great is the day of YHWH and very terrible, and who can endure it?

And even now, the declaration of YHWH, return to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning.

And rend your heart and not your garments, and return to YHWH your God; for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, and relenting over the evil.

Who knows? He may turn and relent, and leave behind him a blessing, a meal offering and a drink offering for YHWH your God.

Blow a horn in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly.

Gather the people, sanctify the assembly, assemble the elders, gather the children and those who nurse at the breasts; let the bridegroom go out from his chamber, and the bride from her canopy.

Between the porch and the altar let the priests, the ministers of YHWH, weep, and let them say, "Spare your people, YHWH, and do not give your inheritance to reproach, for nations to rule over them; why should they say among the peoples, 'Where is their God?'"

And YHWH was jealous for his land, and had pity on his people.

And YHWH answered and said to his people, "Behold, I am sending to you the grain and the new wine and the fresh oil, and you shall be satisfied with it; and I will no longer make you a reproach among the nations.

And the northern one I will remove far from you, and I will drive it to a land barren and desolate, its face toward the eastern sea, and its rear toward the latter sea; and its stench shall come up, and its foul smell shall come up, for it has done great things.

Fear not, O ground (adamah); be glad and rejoice, for YHWH has done great things.

Fear not, you beasts of the field; for the pastures of the wilderness spring green; for the tree bears its fruit, the fig tree and the vine give their strength.

And you sons of Zion, be glad and rejoice in YHWH your God; for he has given to you the early rain for righteousness, and he has brought down for you a downpour, the early rain and the latter rain, in the first.

And the threshing floors shall be full of grain, and the vats shall overflow with new wine and fresh oil.

And I will repay to you the years that the swarming-locust has eaten, the licking-locust and the consuming-locust and the gnawing-locust, my great army that I sent among you.

And you shall eat, eating and being satisfied, and you shall praise the name of YHWH your God, who has dealt with you wondrously; and my people shall never be ashamed.

And you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am YHWH your God, and there is none else; and my people shall never be ashamed.
