1And the heads of the fathers of the Levites drew near to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel;
2and they spoke to them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying: YHWH commanded (tzivvah) by the hand of Moses to give us cities to dwell in, and their open lands for our cattle.
3And the children of Israel gave to the Levites out of their inheritance, according to the mouth of YHWH, these cities and their open lands.
4And the lot came out for the families of the Kohathites; and the children of Aaron the priest, of the Levites, had by lot out of the tribe of Judah, and out of the tribe of the Simeonites, and out of the tribe of Benjamin, thirteen cities.
5And for the rest of the children of Kohath, out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, by lot, ten cities.
6And for the children of Gershon, out of the families of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the half-tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, by lot, thirteen cities.
7For the children of Merari according to their families, out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.
8And the children of Israel gave to the Levites these cities and their open lands by lot, as YHWH commanded (tzivvah) by the hand of Moses.
9And they gave out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities which are called by name.
10And they were for the children of Aaron, of the families of the Kohathites, of the children of Levi; for theirs was the lot first.
11And they gave them Kiriath-arba, the father of Anak (it is Hebron), in the hill-country of Judah, and its open land round about it.
12But the field of the city and its villages they gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for his possession.
13And to the children of Aaron the priest they gave the city of refuge for the manslayer, Hebron and its open land, and Libnah and its open land,
14and Jattir and its open land, and Eshtemoa and its open land,
15and Holon and its open land, and Debir and its open land,
16and Ain and its open land, and Juttah and its open land, Beth-shemesh and its open land; nine cities out of these two tribes.
17And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon and its open land, Geba and its open land,
18Anathoth and its open land, and Almon and its open land; four cities.
19All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities and their open lands.
20And for the families of the children of Kohath, the Levites, the rest of the children of Kohath, the cities of their lot were out of the tribe of Ephraim.
21And they gave them the city of refuge for the manslayer, Shechem and its open land in the hill-country of Ephraim, and Gezer and its open land,
22and Kibzaim and its open land, and Beth-horon and its open land; four cities.
23And out of the tribe of Dan, Elteke and its open land, Gibbethon and its open land,
24Aijalon and its open land, Gath-rimmon and its open land; four cities.
25And out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Taanach and its open land, and Gath-rimmon and its open land; two cities.
26All the cities were ten and their open lands for the families of the rest of the children of Kohath.
27And to the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, the city of refuge for the manslayer, Golan in Bashan and its open land, and Beeshterah and its open land; two cities.
28And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishion and its open land, Dobrath and its open land,
29Jarmuth and its open land, En-gannim and its open land; four cities.
30And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal and its open land, Abdon and its open land,
31Helkath and its open land, and Rehob and its open land; four cities.
32And out of the tribe of Naphtali, the city of refuge for the manslayer, Kedesh in Galilee and its open land, and Hammoth-dor and its open land, and Kartan and its open land; three cities.
33All the cities of the Gershonites according to their families were thirteen cities and their open lands.
34And to the families of the children of Merari, the rest of the Levites, out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam and its open land, Kartah and its open land,
35Dimnah and its open land, Nahalal and its open land; four cities.
36And out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer and its open land, and Jahaz and its open land,
37Kedemoth and its open land, and Mephaath and its open land; four cities.
38And out of the tribe of Gad, the city of refuge for the manslayer, Ramoth in Gilead and its open land, and Mahanaim and its open land,
39Heshbon and its open land, Jazer and its open land; all the cities, four.
40All the cities for the children of Merari according to their families, the rest of the families of the Levites; and their lot was twelve cities.
41All the cities of the Levites in the midst of the possession of the children of Israel were forty and eight cities and their open lands.
42These cities were each city and its open lands round about it; thus for all these cities.
43And YHWH gave to Israel all the land which He swore to give to their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt in it.
44And YHWH gave them rest round about, according to all that He swore to their fathers; and there stood not a man (ish) before them of all their enemies; all their enemies YHWH gave into their hand.
45There fell not a word of all the good word which YHWH spoke to the house of Israel; all came to pass.
