Luke 2

Yeshua Literal Version (YLV)

Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the inhabited world should be registered.

This was the first registration, when Quirinius was governing Syria.

And everyone went to be registered, each to his own city.

Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David,

to be registered with Mariam, his betrothed wife, who was with child.

And it came about that while they were there, the days for her to give birth were completed,

and she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped Him in cloths and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were shepherds in the same region, staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night.

And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear.

And the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.

For today in the city of David there has been born to you a Savior, who is Messiah(Christ) the Lord.

And this is the sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth eirene(peace) among people of His good pleasure."

And it came about that when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this rhema(spoken-word) that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us."

And they hurried and found both Mariam and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger.

When they saw it, they made known the rhema(spoken-word) that had been spoken to them about this child.

And all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds told them.

But Mariam kept all these rhema(spoken-words), pondering them in her kardia(heart, soul-domain).

And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, just as it had been told to them.

And when eight days were completed for circumcising Him, His name was called Yeshua(Jesus), the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb.

And when the days of their purification according to the nomos(law) of Moses were completed, they brought Him up to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord —

as it is written in the nomos(law) of the Lord, "Every male who opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord" —

and to offer a sacrifice according to what is stated in the nomos(law) of the Lord: "a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons."

And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the paraklesis(consolation, encouragement) of Israel, and hagio(holy) pneuma(spirit) was upon him.

And it had been revealed to him by the hagio(holy) pneuma(spirit) that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Messiah(Christ).

And he came in the pneuma(spirit) into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Yeshua(Jesus) to carry out for Him the custom of the nomos(law),

he received Him into his arms and blessed God and said,

"Now You release Your servant, Master, according to Your rhema(spoken-word), in eirene(peace),

for my eyes have seen Your Salvation,

which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples —

a light for revelation to the ethne(Gentiles) and for glory to Your people Israel."

And Joseph and His mother were marveling at the things being said about Him.

And Simeon blessed them and said to Mariam His mother, "Behold, this One is appointed for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign that is opposed —

and a sword will pierce through your own psyche(soul) — so that the dialogismos(reasonings) of many kardia(hearts, soul-domain) may be revealed."

And there was a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher; she was very old, having lived with her husband seven years after her virginity,

and then as a widow until she was eighty-four, who did not depart from the temple, serving night and day with fasting and prayers.

And at that very hora(that-hour) she came up and began giving thanks to the Lord, and was speaking about Him to all those who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.

And when they had performed everything according to the nomos(law) of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own city of Nazareth.

And the child grew and became strong in pneuma(spirit), filled with sophia(wisdom), and the charis(grace) of God was upon Him.

His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Passover feast.

And when He was twelve years old, they went up according to the custom of the feast.

And when the days were completed and they were returning, the boy Yeshua(Jesus) remained behind in Jerusalem, and His parents did not know it.

Supposing Him to be in the group, they went a day's journey and began searching for Him among relatives and acquaintances,

and not finding Him, they returned to Jerusalem to look for Him.

After three days they found Him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, both listening to them and questioning them.

And all who heard Him were amazed at His understanding and His answers.

When they saw Him they were astonished, and His mother said to Him, "Child, why have You treated us this way? Behold, Your father and I have been searching for You in anguish."

And He said to them, "Why were you searching for Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father's affairs?"

And they did not understand the rhema(spoken-word) that He spoke to them.

And He went down with them and came to Nazareth and was submitting to them, and His mother kept all these rhema(spoken-words) in her kardia(heart, soul-domain).

And Yeshua(Jesus) kept increasing in sophia(wisdom) and stature and in charis(grace) before God and people.
