Now after Yeshua(Jesus) was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem,
saying: "Where is the one who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and came to worship Him."
When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
And gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Messiah(Christ) was to be born.
They told him: "In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it has been written through the prophet:
'And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah, for from you will come a ruler who will shepherd My people Israel.'"
Then Herod, having secretly summoned the magi, ascertained from them the chronos(time) of the appearing star.
And sending them to Bethlehem he said: "Go and search carefully for the Child, and when you have found Him, report to me so that I too may come and worship Him."
After hearing the king, they went; and behold, the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it came and stood over the place where the Child was.
When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.
And coming into the house they saw the Child with Mary His mother, and falling down they worshiped Him; and opening their treasures they presented to Him doron(offerings, gifts) — gold and frankincense and myrrh.
And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed for their own country by another way.
Now after they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying: "Get up, take the Child and His mother and flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you — for Herod is about to search for the Child to destroy Him."
And he got up, took the Child and His mother by night, and withdrew to Egypt,
and was there until the death of Herod — so that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled: "Out of Egypt I called My Son."
Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the magi, became furious, and sending out he killed all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its surrounding region, from two years old and under, according to the chronos(time) he had ascertained from the magi.
Then was fulfilled what was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet, saying:
"A voice was heard in Ramah — weeping and great mourning and lamentation — Rachel weeping for her children, and she refused to be comforted, because they are no more."
Now after Herod died, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
saying: "Get up, take the Child and His mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the Child's psyche(soul) have died."
And he got up, took the Child and His mother, and came to the land of Israel.
But hearing that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there; and being warned in a dream, he withdrew to the region of Galilee,
and coming he settled in a city called Nazareth — so that what was spoken through the prophets might be fulfilled: "He shall be called a Nazarene."
