2A jealous and avenging God is YHWH; an avenger is YHWH and a lord of wrath; an avenger is YHWH against his adversaries, and he keeps wrath for his enemies.
3YHWH is slow to anger and great in power, and he will by no means acquit; YHWH, in the whirlwind and in the storm is his way, and the cloud is the dust of his feet.
4He rebukes the sea and dries it up, and all the rivers he makes dry; Bashan languishes, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languishes.
5The mountains quake before him, and the hills melt; and the earth is lifted up before his face, and the world, and all who dwell in it.
6Before his indignation who can stand? And who can rise up in the fierceness of his anger? His fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken down by him.
7YHWH is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, and he knows those who take refuge in him.
8And with an overflowing flood he will make a full end of her place, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.
9What do you devise against YHWH? A full end he is making; trouble shall not rise up a second time.
10For though tangled together like thorns, and drunken as with their drink, they are devoured like fully dry stubble.
11Out of you went forth one who devises evil against YHWH, a counselor of worthlessness.
12Thus says YHWH: Though they be at full strength, and likewise many, even so they shall be cut down, and he shall pass away; and though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more.
13And now I will break his yoke from upon you, and your bonds I will tear apart.
14And YHWH has commanded (tzivvah) concerning you: no more of your name shall be sown; from the house of your god I will cut off the graven image and the molten image; I will make your grave, for you are vile.
