Nehemiah 3

1And Eliashib the high priest arose, with his brothers the priests, and they built the sheep gate; they sanctified it and set up its doors; and unto the tower of the Hundred they sanctified it, unto the tower of Hananel.

2And at his hand built the men (ish) of Jericho. And at his hand built Zaccur the son of Imri.

3And the fish gate the sons of Hassenaah built; they laid its beams and set up its doors, its bolts, and its bars.

4And at their hand repaired Meremoth the son of Uriah, the son of Hakkoz. And at their hand repaired Meshullam the son of Berechiah, the son of Meshezabel. And at their hand repaired Zadok the son of Baana.

5And at their hand repaired the Tekoites; but their nobles did not bring their neck into the service (avodah) of their lords.

6And the Old Gate repaired Joiada the son of Paseah and Meshullam the son of Besodeiah; they laid its beams and set up its doors, and its bolts, and its bars.

7And at their hand repaired Melatiah the Gibeonite and Jadon the Meronothite, the men (ish) of Gibeon and of Mizpah, belonging to the throne of the governor beyond the River.

8At his hand repaired Uzziel the son of Harhaiah, goldsmiths; and at his hand repaired Hananiah, the son of the perfumers; and they restored Jerusalem unto the broad wall.

9And at their hand repaired Rephaiah the son of Hur, ruler of half the district of Jerusalem.

10And at their hand repaired Jedaiah the son of Harumaph, and over against his house; and at his hand repaired Hattush the son of Hashabneiah.

11A second portion repaired Malchijah the son of Harim, and Hasshub the son of Pahath-moab, and the tower of the furnaces.

12And at his hand repaired Shallum the son of Hallohesh, ruler of half the district of Jerusalem, he and his daughters.

13The gate of the valley repaired Hanun and the inhabitants of Zanoah; they built it and set up its doors, its bolts, and its bars, and a thousand cubits in the wall unto the dung gate.

14And the dung gate repaired Malchijah the son of Rechab, ruler of the district of Beth-haccherem; he built it and set up its doors, its bolts, and its bars.

15And the gate of the fountain repaired Shallun the son of Colhozeh, ruler of the district of Mizpah; he built it and roofed it and set up its doors, its bolts, and its bars; and the wall of the pool of Shelah by the king's garden, and unto the stairs that go down from the city of David.

16After him repaired Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, ruler of half the district of Beth-zur, unto over against the graves of David, and unto the pool that was made, and unto the house of the mighty men.

17After him repaired the Levites: Rehum the son of Bani. At his hand repaired Hashabiah, ruler of half the district of Keilah, for his district.

18After him repaired their brothers: Bavvai the son of Henadad, ruler of half the district of Keilah.

19And at his hand repaired Ezer the son of Yeshua, ruler of Mizpah, a second portion, from over against the ascent to the armory at the Angle.

20After him Baruch the son of Zaccai earnestly repaired a second portion, from the Angle unto the door of the house of Eliashib the high priest.

21After him repaired Meremoth the son of Uriah the son of Hakkoz a second portion, from the door of the house of Eliashib unto the end of the house of Eliashib.

22And after him repaired the priests, the men (ish) of the plain.

23After him repaired Benjamin and Hasshub over against their house. After him repaired Azariah the son of Maaseiah the son of Ananiah beside his house.

24After him repaired Binnui the son of Henadad a second portion, from the house of Azariah unto the Angle and unto the corner.

25Palal the son of Uzai repaired over against the Angle, and the tower that projects out from the upper house of the king, which is by the court of the guard. After him Pedaiah the son of Parosh.

26And the Nethinim were dwelling in Ophel, unto over against the water gate toward the east, and the tower that projects out.

27After him repaired the Tekoites a second portion, from over against the great tower that projects out, and unto the wall of Ophel.

28From above the horse gate repaired the priests, each man (ish) over against his house.

29After him repaired Zadok the son of Immer over against his house. And after him repaired Shemaiah the son of Shecaniah, keeper of the east gate.

30After him repaired Hananiah the son of Shelemiah, and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph, a second portion. After him repaired Meshullam the son of Berechiah over against his chamber.

31After him repaired Malchijah, the son of the goldsmiths, unto the house of the Nethinim and of the merchants, over against the gate of the Muster, and unto the upper chamber of the corner.

32And between the upper chamber of the corner and the sheep gate repaired the goldsmiths and the merchants.

33And it came to pass, when Sanballat heard that we were building the wall, that it was hot to him, and he was greatly vexed, and he mocked the Jews.

34And he said before his brothers and the army of Samaria, and said, "What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they restore for themselves? Will they sacrifice? Will they finish in a day? Will they revive the stones from the heaps of the dust (aphar), and they are burned?"

35And Tobiah the Ammonite was beside him, and he said, "Even what they are building — if a fox goes up, he will break down their wall of stones."

36Hear, O our God, for we have become a despising; and turn back their reproach upon their head, and give them for plunder in a land of captivity;

37and do not cover over their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before you; for they have provoked before the builders.

38And we built the wall, and all the wall was joined together unto its half; for the people had a heart to work.
