Numbers 32

Yeshua Literal Version (YLV)

And much livestock there was for the sons of Reuben and for the sons of Gad, very mighty; and they saw the land of Jazer and the land of Gilead, and behold, the place was a place of livestock.

And the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben came and said to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the princes of the congregation, saying:

"Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Sebam, and Nebo, and Beon,

the land which YHWH smote before the congregation of Israel, it is a land of livestock, and your servants have livestock."

And they said: "If we have found favor in your eyes, let this land be given to your servants for a possession; do not bring us over the Jordan."

And Moses said to the sons of Gad and to the sons of Reuben: "Shall your brothers go to the war, and you sit here?

And why do you turn away the heart of the sons of Israel from passing over to the land which YHWH has given to them?

Thus did your fathers, when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land.

And they went up to the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, and turned away the heart of the sons of Israel, that they should not come to the land which YHWH had given to them.

And the anger of YHWH was kindled in that day, and He swore, saying:

"Surely the men (ish) who came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall not see the ground (adamah) which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; for they have not fully followed after Me;

except Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun; for they have fully followed after YHWH."

And the anger of YHWH was kindled against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation that did the evil in the eyes of YHWH was consumed.

And behold, you have risen up in the place of your fathers, an increase of sinful men (ish), to add yet to the fierce anger of YHWH toward Israel.

For if you turn back from after Him, He will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and you will destroy all this people."

And they came near to him and said: "Sheepfolds we will build for our livestock here, and cities for our little ones;

and we ourselves will arm ourselves in haste before the sons of Israel, until that we have brought them to their place; and our little ones shall dwell in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land.

We will not return to our houses, until the sons of Israel have inherited every man (ish) his inheritance.

For we will not inherit with them beyond the Jordan and onward, because our inheritance has come to us beyond the Jordan eastward."

And Moses said to them: "If you will do this thing, if you will arm yourselves before YHWH for the war,

and every armed one of you passes over the Jordan before YHWH, until He has dispossessed His enemies from before Him,

and the land is subdued before YHWH, and afterward you return, then you shall be clean from YHWH and from Israel, and this land shall be for you for a possession before YHWH.

But if you do not do so, behold, you have sinned against YHWH; and know your sin which will find you.

Build for yourselves cities for your little ones, and folds for your sheep; and that which proceeds out of your mouth you shall do."

And the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben said to Moses, saying: "Your servants will do as my lord commands (tzivvah).

Our little ones, our wives (ishah), our livestock, and all our cattle, shall be there in the cities of Gilead;

and your servants will pass over, every one armed for the host, before YHWH to the war, as my lord speaks."

And Moses commanded (tzivvah) concerning them Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the sons of Israel.

And Moses said to them: "If the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben pass over with you the Jordan, every one armed for the war, before YHWH, and the land is subdued before you, then you shall give to them the land of Gilead for a possession;

but if they do not pass over armed with you, then they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan."

And the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben answered, saying: "That which YHWH has spoken to your servants, so will we do.

We ourselves will pass over armed before YHWH into the land of Canaan, and with us shall be the possession of our inheritance beyond the Jordan."

And Moses gave to them, to the sons of Gad, and to the sons of Reuben, and to the half tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorite, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land with its cities in the borders, the cities of the land round about.

And the sons of Gad built Dibon, and Ataroth, and Aroer;

and Atroth-shophan, and Jazer, and Jogbehah;

and Beth-nimrah, and Beth-haran, fortified cities, and folds for sheep.

And the sons of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kiriathaim;

and Nebo, and Baal-meon (their names being changed), and Sibmah; and they called by names the names of the cities which they built.

And the sons of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead, and captured it, and dispossessed the Amorite who was in it.

And Moses gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh; and he dwelt in it.

And Jair the son of Manasseh went and captured their towns, and called them Havvoth-jair.

And Nobah went and captured Kenath, and its daughter-villages, and called it Nobah, after his own name.
