1To the leader; a Psalm of David.
2Hear, God, my voice in my complaint; from dread of the enemy preserve my life (chai).
3Hide me from the council of evildoers, from the throng of the workers of iniquity,
4who have sharpened their tongue like a sword, who have aimed their arrow — a bitter word,
5to shoot in secret places at the blameless; suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear.
6They encourage themselves in an evil matter; they talk of hiding snares; they say, "Who will see them?"
7They search out injustices: "We have perfected a well-searched-out scheme." And the inward part of a man (ish) and the heart are deep.
8But God shoots at them an arrow; suddenly their wounds come to be.
9And they cause him to stumble, their own tongue against them; all who see them shake the head.
10And every man (adam) fears, and they declare the work of God, and his deed they ponder wisely.
11The righteous will rejoice in YHWH and take refuge in him; and all the upright of heart will glory.
