Where has your beloved gone, O fairest among women (ishah)? Where has your beloved turned, that we may seek him with you?
My beloved has gone down to his garden, to the beds of spice, to feed in the gardens, and to gather lilies.
I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine, who feeds among the lilies.
You are beautiful, my love, as Tirzah, comely as Jerusalem, awesome as armies with banners.
Turn away your eyes from before me, for they have overcome me. Your hair is like a flock of goats that trail down from Gilead.
Your teeth are like a flock of ewes that have come up from the washing, all of which bear twins, and not one among them is bereaved.
Like a piece of pomegranate are your temples behind your veil.
There are sixty queens, and eighty concubines, and maidens without number.
One is she, my dove, my perfect one; one is she to her mother, she is the pure one to her that bore her. The daughters saw her and called her happy; the queens and the concubines, and they praised her.
Who is this that looks forth as the dawn, beautiful as the moon, pure as the sun, awesome as armies with banners?
I went down to the garden of nuts, to look at the green shoots of the valley, to see whether the vine had budded, whether the pomegranates were in flower.
I did not know; my soul (nephesh) set me upon the chariots of my noble people.
