1The burden of the word of YHWH against the land of Hadrach, and Damascus is its resting place; for to YHWH is the eye of man (adam) and all the tribes of Israel.
2And Hamath also shall border on it; Tyre and Zidon, for she is very wise.
3And Tyre built herself a stronghold, and heaped up silver like the dust (aphar), and fine gold like the mire of the streets.
4Behold, my Lord (Adonai) will dispossess her, and will strike her wealth into the sea; and she shall be devoured with fire.
5Ashkelon shall see and fear, Gaza also, and shall be greatly pained, and Ekron, for her expectation is ashamed; and a king shall perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited.
6And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines.
7And I will remove his blood from his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth; and he too shall remain for our God, and he shall be like a chief in Judah, and Ekron like a Jebusite.
8And I will encamp at my house as a guard, against one passing through and returning; and no oppressor shall pass over them again, for now I have seen with my eyes.
9Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king comes to you, righteous and saved is he, humble and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a she-donkey.
10And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the bow of war shall be cut off; and he shall speak peace to the nations, and his dominion shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth.
11You also, by the blood of your covenant (berit) I have sent forth your prisoners out of the pit in which is no water.
12Return to the stronghold, O prisoners of hope; even today I declare that I will return to you double.
13For I have bent Judah for myself as a bow, I have filled it with Ephraim; and I will stir up your sons, O Zion, against your sons, O Javan, and make you like the sword of a mighty man.
14And YHWH shall appear over them, and his arrow shall go forth like the lightning; and my Lord (Adonai) YHWH shall blow the shofar, and shall go in the storm-winds of the south.
15YHWH of hosts (tzevaot) shall defend over them; and they shall devour and subdue the sling-stones; and they shall drink, they shall be boisterous as with wine; and they shall be full like the basin, like the corners of the altar.
16And YHWH their God shall save (yasha) them in that day, like the flock of his people; for they shall be like the stones of a crown, glittering over his ground (adamah).
17For how great is his goodness, and how great his beauty! Grain shall make the young men flourish, and new wine the maidens.
