1And Huram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and craftsmen of wall, and craftsmen of wood, to build him a house.
2And David knew that YHWH had established him for king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high for the sake of His people Israel.
3And David took more wives (ishah) in Jerusalem, and David begot more sons and daughters.
4And these are the names of the children who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,
5and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpelet,
6and Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
7and Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
8And the Philistines heard that David had been anointed for king over all Israel, and all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard, and went out before them.
9And the Philistines came and spread out in the valley of Rephaim.
10And David inquired of God, saying, "Shall I go up against the Philistines, and will You give them into my hand?" And YHWH said to him, "Go up, and I will give them into your hand."
11And they went up to Baal-perazim, and David struck them there; and David said, "God has broken forth against my enemies by my hand, like the breaking forth of waters." Therefore they called the name of that place Baal-perazim.
12And they left their gods there, and David said the word, and they were burned with fire.
13And the Philistines yet again spread out in the valley.
14And David inquired again of God, and God said to him, "You shall not go up after them; turn around from upon them, and come to them from opposite the balsam trees.
15And it shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, then you shall go out into the battle, for God has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines."
16And David did as God commanded (tzivvah) him, and they struck the camp of the Philistines from Gibeon to Gezer.
17And the name of David went out into all the lands, and YHWH put the dread of him upon all the nations.
