1And David consulted with the captains of the thousands and the hundreds, with every leader.
2And David said to all the assembly of Israel, "If it is good to you and from YHWH our God, let us break forth, let us send to our brothers who remain in all the lands of Israel, and with them the priests and the Levites in the cities of their open lands, that they may gather to us.
3And let us bring around the ark of our God to us, for we did not seek it in the days of Saul."
4And all the assembly said to do so, for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.
5And David assembled all Israel from the Shihor of Egypt to the entrance of Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.
6And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, to Kiriath-jearim which belongs to Judah, to bring up from there the ark of God, YHWH who sits upon the cherubim, where the Name is called.
7And they made the ark of God ride upon a new cart from the house of Abinadab; and Uzza and Ahio were driving the cart.
8And David and all Israel were playing before God with all might, and with songs, and with harps, and with lyres, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.
9And they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, and Uzza put out his hand to seize the ark, for the oxen had let it slip.
10And the anger of YHWH was kindled against Uzza, and He struck him because he put out his hand to the ark; and he died there before God.
11And David was grieved because YHWH had broken forth a breach against Uzza; and he called that place Perez-uzza, to this day.
12And David feared God on that day, saying, "How shall I bring to me the ark of God?"
13And David did not remove the ark to himself to the city of David, but turned it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.
14And the ark of God dwelt with the house of Obed-edom in his house three months; and YHWH blessed the house of Obed-edom and all that was his.
