And David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the princes of the divisions who ministered to the king, and the princes of the thousands, and the princes of the hundreds, and the princes of all the property and livestock of the king and of his sons, with the officials and the mighty men, and to every mighty man of valor, to Jerusalem.
And David the king rose upon his feet and said, "Hear me, my brothers and my people. As for me, it was in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant (berit) of YHWH, and for the footstool of our God; and I had prepared to build.
But God said to me, 'You shall not build a house for my name, because you are a man (ish) of wars, and you have shed blood.'
And YHWH, the God of Israel, chose me out of all the house of my father to be king over Israel forever; for he chose Judah as leader, and in the house of Judah, the house of my father, and among the sons of my father, in me he was pleased to make me king over all Israel.
And of all my sons—for YHWH gave me many sons—he chose Solomon my son to sit on the throne of the kingdom of YHWH over Israel.
And he said to me, 'Solomon your son, he shall build my house and my courts; for I have chosen him to be to me for a son, and I will be to him for a father.
And I will establish his kingdom forever, if he is strong to do my commandments (mitzvot) and my judgments (mishpatim), as at this day.'
And now, in the eyes of all Israel, the assembly of YHWH, and in the ears of our God, keep and seek all the commandments (mitzvot) of YHWH your God, so that you may possess the good land and bequeath it to your sons after you forever.
And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father, and serve him (avad) with a whole heart and with a willing soul (nephesh); for YHWH searches all hearts, and understands every inclination of the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.
See now, for YHWH has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary; be strong and do it."
And David gave to Solomon his son the pattern of the porch and of its houses and its treasuries and its upper rooms and its inner chambers, and the house of the cover;
and the pattern of all that he had by the spirit (ruach) with him, for the courts of the house of YHWH, and for all the chambers around, for the treasuries of the house of God, and for the treasuries of the holy things;
and for the divisions of the priests and the Levites, and for all the work of the service (avodah) of the house of YHWH, and for all the vessels of the service (avodah) of the house of YHWH.
The gold by weight for the gold, for all the vessels of service (avodah) and service (avodah); and for all the vessels of silver by weight, for all the vessels of service (avodah) and service (avodah);
and the weight for the lampstands of gold and their lamps of gold, by the weight of each lampstand and its lamps; and for the lampstands of silver by weight, for a lampstand and its lamps, according to the service (avodah) of each lampstand.
And the gold by weight for the tables of the arrangement, for each table; and silver for the tables of silver.
And the forks and the basins and the pitchers of pure gold; and for the bowls of gold by weight for each bowl, and for the bowls of silver by weight for each bowl.
And for the altar of incense, refined gold by weight; and for the pattern of the chariot, the cherubim of gold, spreading out and covering over the ark of the covenant (berit) of YHWH.
"All this in writing from the hand of YHWH; he gave me insight, by his hand upon me, into all the works of the pattern."
And David said to Solomon his son, "Be strong and courageous, and do it; do not fear and do not be dismayed, for YHWH God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you, until all the work of the service (avodah) of the house of YHWH is finished.
And behold, the divisions of the priests and the Levites for all the service (avodah) of the house of God; and with you in all the work is every willing man with wisdom for every service (avodah); and the princes and all the people are at all your words."
