1And the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel — for he was the firstborn, but because he defiled his father's couch, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph the son of Israel, so that he was not to be enrolled in the genealogy according to the birthright.
2For Judah prevailed over his brothers, and from him came a leader, but the birthright was Joseph's —
3the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel: Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
4The sons of Joel: Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son;
5Micah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son;
6Beerah his son, whom Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria carried into exile; he was prince of the Reubenites.
7And his brothers by their families, in the genealogical registration according to their generations: the chief, Jeiel, and Zechariah,
8and Bela the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel, who dwelt in Aroer, and as far as Nebo and Baal-meon;
9and eastward he dwelt as far as the entrance of the wilderness from the river Euphrates; because their cattle had multiplied in the land of Gilead.
10And in the days of Saul they made war with the Hagrites, who fell by their hand; and they dwelt in their tents throughout all the face of the east of Gilead.
11And the sons of Gad dwelt opposite them, in the land of Bashan as far as Salcah:
12Joel the chief, and Shapham the second, and Janai, and Shaphat in Bashan;
13and their brothers, according to the house of their fathers: Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jacan, and Zia, and Eber, seven.
14These were the sons of Abihail the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz;
15Ahi the son of Abdiel, the son of Guni, the chief of the house of their fathers.
16And they dwelt in Gilead, in Bashan, and in its daughter-towns, and in all the pasture lands of Sharon as far as their borders.
17All of them were enrolled by genealogies in the days of Jotham king of Judah and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.
18The sons of Reuben and the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh, of valiant men, men (ish) bearing shield and sword and drawing the bow, and trained in war, were forty-four thousand seven hundred and sixty, going forth to the army.
19And they made war with the Hagrites, with Jetur, and Naphish, and Nodab.
20And they were helped against them, and the Hagrites were given into their hand, and all that were with them; for they cried out to God in the battle, and he was entreated for them, because they trusted in him.
21And they took captive their cattle: their camels fifty thousand, and sheep two hundred fifty thousand, and donkeys two thousand, and of soul (nephesh) of man (adam), a hundred thousand.
22For many slain fell down, because the war was of God. And they dwelt in their place until the exile.
23And the sons of the half-tribe of Manasseh dwelt in the land; from Bashan as far as Baal-hermon and Senir and Mount Hermon, they multiplied.
24And these were the heads of the house of their fathers: Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, mighty men (ish) of valor, men (ish) of names, heads of the house of their fathers.
25But they broke faith with the God of their fathers, and went whoring after the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God had destroyed before them.
26And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit (ruach) of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit (ruach) of Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them into exile — the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh — and brought them to Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and the river of Gozan, until this day.
27The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
28And the sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel.
29And the children of Amram: Aaron, and Moses, and Miriam. And the sons of Aaron: Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
30Eleazar begot Phinehas, Phinehas begot Abishua;
31and Abishua begot Bukki, and Bukki begot Uzzi;
32and Uzzi begot Zerahiah, and Zerahiah begot Meraioth;
33Meraioth begot Amariah, and Amariah begot Ahitub;
34and Ahitub begot Zadok, and Zadok begot Ahimaaz;
35and Ahimaaz begot Azariah, and Azariah begot Johanan;
36and Johanan begot Azariah — he it was who served as priest in the house that Solomon built in Jerusalem —
37and Azariah begot Amariah, and Amariah begot Ahitub;
38and Ahitub begot Zadok, and Zadok begot Shallum;
39and Shallum begot Hilkiah, and Hilkiah begot Azariah;
40and Azariah begot Seraiah, and Seraiah begot Jehozadak;
41and Jehozadak went into exile, when YHWH carried Judah and Jerusalem into exile by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar.
