1The sons of Levi: Gershom, Kohath, and Merari.
2And these are the names of the sons of Gershom: Libni and Shimei.
3And the sons of Kohath: Amram, and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel.
4The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. And these are the families of the Levites according to their fathers.
5Of Gershom: Libni his son, Jahath his son, Zimmah his son,
6Joah his son, Iddo his son, Zerah his son, Jeatherai his son.
7The sons of Kohath: Amminadab his son, Korah his son, Assir his son,
8Elkanah his son, and Ebiasaph his son, and Assir his son,
9Tahath his son, Uriel his son, Uzziah his son, and Shaul his son.
10And the sons of Elkanah: Amasai and Ahimoth.
11Elkanah—the sons of Elkanah: Zophai his son, and Nahath his son,
12Eliab his son, Jeroham his son, Elkanah his son.
13And the sons of Samuel: the firstborn Vashni, and Abijah.
14The sons of Merari: Mahli; Libni his son, Shimei his son, Uzzah his son,
15Shimea his son, Haggiah his son, Asaiah his son.
16And these are they whom David set over the hands of the song in the house of YHWH, from the resting of the ark.
17And they were ministering before the tabernacle (mishkan) of the tent (ohel) of appointed time (moed) with the song, until Solomon built the house of YHWH in Jerusalem; and they stood according to their judgment (mishpat) over their service (avodah).
18And these are they that stood, and their sons: Of the sons of the Kohathite, Heman the singer, son of Joel, son of Samuel,
19son of Elkanah, son of Jeroham, son of Eliel, son of Toah,
20son of Zuph, son of Elkanah, son of Mahath, son of Amasai,
21son of Elkanah, son of Joel, son of Azariah, son of Zephaniah,
22son of Tahath, son of Assir, son of Ebiasaph, son of Korah,
23son of Izhar, son of Kohath, son of Levi, son of Israel.
24And his brother Asaph, who stood on his right hand: Asaph son of Berechiah, son of Shimea,
25son of Michael, son of Baaseiah, son of Malchijah,
26son of Ethni, son of Zerah, son of Adaiah,
27son of Ethan, son of Zimmah, son of Shimei,
28son of Jahath, son of Gershom, son of Levi.
29And the sons of Merari their brothers on the left: Ethan son of Kishi, son of Abdi, son of Malluch,
30son of Hashabiah, son of Amaziah, son of Hilkiah,
31son of Amzi, son of Bani, son of Shemer,
32son of Mahli, son of Mushi, son of Merari, son of Levi.
33And their brothers the Levites were given for all the service (avodah) of the tabernacle (mishkan) of the house of God.
34And Aaron and his sons were burning offerings upon the altar of the burnt offering, and upon the altar of the incense, for all the work of the holy of holies, and to make atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded (tzivvah).
35And these are the sons of Aaron: Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son,
36Bukki his son, Uzzi his son, Zerahiah his son,
37Meraioth his son, Amariah his son, Ahitub his son,
38Zadok his son, Ahimaaz his son.
39And these are their dwelling places by their encampments within their border, to the sons of Aaron, of the family of the Kohathite—for theirs was the lot.
40And they gave to them Hebron in the land of Judah, and its open lands round about it;
41but the field of the city and its villages they gave to Caleb son of Jephunneh.
42And to the sons of Aaron they gave the cities of refuge: Hebron, and Libnah and its open lands, and Jattir, and Eshtemoa and its open lands,
43and Hilez and its open lands, Debir and its open lands,
44and Ashan and its open lands, and Beth-shemesh and its open lands;
45and from the tribe of Benjamin: Geba and its open lands, and Alemeth and its open lands, and Anathoth and its open lands. All their cities throughout their families were thirteen cities.
46And to the rest of the sons of Kohath, from the family of the tribe, from the half of the tribe, the half of Manasseh, by lot, ten cities.
47And to the sons of Gershom, according to their families, from the tribe of Issachar, and from the tribe of Asher, and from the tribe of Naphtali, and from the tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.
48To the sons of Merari, according to their families, from the tribe of Reuben, and from the tribe of Gad, and from the tribe of Zebulun, by lot, twelve cities.
49And the sons of Israel gave to the Levites the cities and their open lands.
50And they gave by lot, from the tribe of the sons of Judah, and from the tribe of the sons of Simeon, and from the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, these cities which they call by names.
51And some of the families of the sons of Kohath had the cities of their border from the tribe of Ephraim.
52And they gave to them the cities of refuge: Shechem and its open lands in the hill country of Ephraim, and Gezer and its open lands,
53and Jokmeam and its open lands, and Beth-horon and its open lands,
54and Aijalon and its open lands, and Gath-rimmon and its open lands;
55and from the half of the tribe of Manasseh: Aner and its open lands, and Bileam and its open lands—for the family of the rest of the sons of Kohath.
56For the sons of Gershom: from the family of the half of the tribe of Manasseh, Golan in Bashan and its open lands, and Ashtaroth and its open lands;
57and from the tribe of Issachar: Kedesh and its open lands, Daberath and its open lands,
58and Ramoth and its open lands, and Anem and its open lands;
59and from the tribe of Asher: Mashal and its open lands, and Abdon and its open lands,
60and Hukok and its open lands, and Rehob and its open lands;
61and from the tribe of Naphtali: Kedesh in Galilee and its open lands, and Hammon and its open lands, and Kiriathaim and its open lands.
62For the rest of the sons of Merari: from the tribe of Zebulun, Rimmono and its open lands, Tabor and its open lands;
63and beyond the Jordan at Jericho, to the east of the Jordan, from the tribe of Reuben: Bezer in the wilderness and its open lands, and Jahzah and its open lands,
64and Kedemoth and its open lands, and Mephaath and its open lands;
65and from the tribe of Gad: Ramoth in Gilead and its open lands, and Mahanaim and its open lands,
66and Heshbon and its open lands, and Jazer and its open lands.
