Corinthians 1

Yeshua Literal Version (YLV)

Paul, a called apostle of Yeshua(Jesus) Messiah(Christ) through the thelema(will) of God, and Sosthenes the brother,

to the ekklesia(called-out community) of God that is in Corinth, to those having been made hagio(holy) in Messiah(Christ) Yeshua(Jesus), called hagioi(holy ones), together with all those calling upon the name of our Lord Yeshua(Jesus) Messiah(Christ) in every place — both theirs and ours:

charis(grace) to you and eirene(peace) from God our Father and the Lord Yeshua(Jesus) Messiah(Christ).

I give thanks to my God always concerning you, for the charis(grace) of God given to you in Messiah(Christ) Yeshua(Jesus),

that in everything you were enriched in Him, in all logos(word) and all gnosis(knowledge),

just as the testimony of Messiah(Christ) was confirmed in you,

so that you are not lacking in any charisma(grace-gift), as you eagerly await the revelation of our Lord Yeshua(Jesus) Messiah(Christ),

who will also confirm you until the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Yeshua(Jesus) Messiah(Christ).

God is faithful, through whom you were called into koinonia(fellowship, participation) with His Son Yeshua(Jesus) Messiah(Christ) our Lord.

Now I appeal to you, brothers, through the name of our Lord Yeshua(Jesus) Messiah(Christ), that you all say the same thing and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be restored in the same nous(intellect, spiritual domain) and in the same judgment.

For it has been made clear to me concerning you, my brothers, by those of Chloe's household, that there are quarrels among you.

I mean this: each of you says, "I am of Paul," or "I am of Apollos," or "I am of Cephas," or "I am of Messiah(Christ)."

Is Messiah(Christ) divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?

I give thanks to God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius,

so that no one should say that you were baptized in my name.

Now I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that I do not know whether I baptized anyone else.

For Messiah(Christ) did not send me to baptize but to proclaim the good news — not in sophia(wisdom) of logos(speech), lest the stauros(cross) of Messiah(Christ) be emptied.

For the logos(message) of the stauros(cross) is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the dynamis(power) of God.

For it is written: "I will destroy the sophia(wisdom) of the wise, and the intelligence of the intelligent I will set aside."

Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the sophia(wisdom) of this world?

For since in the sophia(wisdom) of God the world did not know God through sophia(wisdom), God was pleased through the foolishness of proclamation to save those who believe.

For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks seek sophia(wisdom),

but we proclaim Messiah(Christ) crucified — a skandalon(stumbling-block) to Jews and foolishness to Greeks,

but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Messiah(Christ) the dynamis(power) of God and the sophia(wisdom) of God.

Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

For look at your calling, brothers — not many wise according to sarx(flesh), not many powerful, not many of noble birth were called;

but God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong,

and God chose the ignoble and despised things of the world — the things that are not — to nullify the things that are,

so that no sarx(flesh) may boast before God.

But from Him you are in Messiah(Christ) Yeshua(Jesus), who became sophia(wisdom) to us from God — both dikaiosyne(righteousness) and hagiasmos(sanctification) and apolytrosis(redemption, ransom-release) —

so that, just as it is written: "Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord."
