Kings 9

Yeshua Literal Version (YLV)

And it came to pass, when Solomon had finished building the house of YHWH, and the house of the king, and all the desire of Solomon which he delighted to do,

that YHWH appeared to Solomon a second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon.

And YHWH said to him: "I have heard your prayer and your supplication, which you have made before me; I have hallowed this house, which you have built, to put my name there forever; and my eyes and my heart shall be there all the days.

And you, if you will walk before me, as David your father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you (tzivvah), and will keep my statutes (chuqqim) and my judgments (mishpat),

then I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel forever, as I spoke concerning David your father, saying: 'There shall not be cut off to you a man (ish) upon the throne of Israel.'

If you shall surely turn away, you and your children, from after me, and will not keep my commandments (mitzvot), my statutes (chuqqot), which I have set before you, but will go and serve (avad) other gods, and bow yourselves down to them,

then I will cut off Israel from upon the face of the ground (adamah) which I have given them; and the house, which I have hallowed for my name, I will cast away from my presence; and Israel shall be for a proverb and a byword among all the peoples.

And this house shall be high; everyone passing by it shall be astonished and shall hiss; and they shall say: 'Why has YHWH done thus to this land and to this house?'

And they shall say: 'Because they forsook YHWH their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and bowed down to them, and served them (avad); therefore YHWH has brought upon them all this evil.'"

And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, in which Solomon had built the two houses, the house of YHWH and the house of the king,

Hiram the king of Tyre having supported Solomon with cedar trees and with cypress trees, and with gold, according to all his desire — then king Solomon gave to Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.

And Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him; and they were not right in his eyes.

And he said: "What cities are these which you have given me, my brother?" And he called them the land of Cabul, to this day.

And Hiram sent to the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold.

And this is the matter of the levy which king Solomon raised, to build the house of YHWH, and his own house, and the Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.

Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up, and captured Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slain the Canaanite dwelling in the city, and given it as a parting gift to his daughter, the wife (ishah) of Solomon.

And Solomon built Gezer, and Beth-horon the lower,

and Baalath, and Tadmor in the wilderness, in the land,

and all the store-cities that Solomon had, and the cities of the chariots, and the cities of the horsemen, and the desire of Solomon which he desired to build in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.

All the people that were left of the Amorite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, who were not of the children of Israel —

their children who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel were not able to devote to destruction, upon them did Solomon raise a levy of forced labor (avad), to this day.

But of the children of Israel Solomon did not make a bondservant; for they were the men (ish) of war, and his servants, and his princes, and his captains, and the captains of his chariots and his horsemen.

These were the princes of the officers who were over the work of Solomon, five hundred and fifty, who ruled over the people doing the work.

But the daughter of Pharaoh came up out of the city of David to her house which he had built for her; then he built the Millo.

And three times in the year Solomon offered up burnt offerings and peace offerings upon the altar which he built to YHWH, and he burned incense with it which was before YHWH. So he finished the house.

And king Solomon made a fleet of ships in Ezion-geber, which is beside Eloth, on the shore of the Sea of Reeds, in the land of Edom.

And Hiram sent in the fleet his servants, men (ish) of ships, knowing the sea, with the servants of Solomon.

And they came to Ophir, and took from there gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought it to king Solomon.
