1A son of twelve years was Manasseh when he reigned, and he reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem.
2And he did the evil in the eyes of YHWH, like the abominations of the nations whom YHWH dispossessed before the sons of Israel.
3And he returned and built the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down, and he raised up altars for the Baalim, and made Asheroth, and bowed down to all the host of the heavens, and served (avad) them.
4And he built altars in the house of YHWH, of which YHWH had said: "In Jerusalem My name shall be forever."
5And he built altars for all the host of the heavens in the two courts of the house of YHWH.
6And he made his sons pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and practiced soothsaying, and used divination, and practiced sorcery, and made a medium and a familiar spirit; he multiplied doing the evil in the eyes of YHWH, to provoke Him.
7And he set the carved image of the idol which he had made in the house of God, of which God said to David and to Solomon his son: "In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put My name forever;
8and I will not again remove the foot of Israel from upon the ground (adamah) which I appointed for your fathers; only if they will observe to do all that I have commanded them (tzivvah), for all the Torah and the statutes (chuqqim) and the judgments (mishpat) by the hand of Moses."
9And Manasseh led Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem astray, to do evil more than the nations whom YHWH destroyed before the sons of Israel.
10And YHWH spoke to Manasseh and to his people, but they did not give heed.
11And YHWH brought upon them the captains of the host that belonged to the king of Assyria, and they captured Manasseh with hooks, and bound him with bronze fetters, and led him to Babylon.
12And when he was in distress, he entreated the face of YHWH his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.
13And he prayed to Him, and He was entreated by him, and heard his supplication, and brought him back to Jerusalem to his kingdom. And Manasseh knew that YHWH, He is God.
14And after this he built an outer wall to the city of David, on the west of Gihon, in the valley, and to the entrance of the Fish Gate, and he encircled the Ophel, and raised it up very high; and he set captains of the army in all the fortified cities in Judah.
15And he removed the foreign gods and the idol from the house of YHWH, and all the altars that he had built on the mountain of the house of YHWH, and in Jerusalem, and cast them outside the city.
16And he built up the altar of YHWH, and sacrificed upon it sacrifices of peace offerings and thanksgiving; and he said to Judah to serve (avad) YHWH the God of Israel.
17But still the people were sacrificing on the high places, only to YHWH their God.
18And the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer to his God, and the words of the seers who spoke to him in the name of YHWH the God of Israel, behold, they are upon the acts of the kings of Israel.
19And his prayer, and how He was entreated of him, and all his sin and his unfaithfulness, and the places where he built high places and set up the Asherim and the carved images, before he humbled himself; behold, they are written upon the words of Hozai.
20And Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house; and Amon his son reigned in his stead.
21A son of twenty-two years was Amon when he reigned, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem.
22And he did the evil in the eyes of YHWH, as Manasseh his father had done; and to all the carved images which Manasseh his father had made Amon sacrificed, and served (avad) them.
23And he did not humble himself before YHWH, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself; for he, Amon, multiplied guilt.
24And his servants conspired against him, and put him to death in his own house.
25And the people of the land struck down all those who conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.
