2 Kings 11

Yeshua Literal Version (YLV)

1And Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, and she arose and destroyed all the seed of the kingdom.

2And Jehosheba the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from the midst of the king's sons who were being put to death, him and his nurse, in the chamber of the beds; and they hid him from the face of Athaliah, and he was not put to death.

3And he was with her in the house of YHWH, hiding himself, six years; and Athaliah was reigning over the land.

4And in the seventh year Jehoiada sent and took the captains of the hundreds, of the Carites and of the runners, and brought them to him to the house of YHWH; and he cut a covenant (berit) with them, and made them swear in the house of YHWH, and showed them the king's son.

5And he commanded (tzivvah) them, saying, "This is the thing that you shall do: a third of you who come in on the Shabbat, who keep the charge (mishmeret) of the king's house;

6and a third at the gate of Sur, and a third at the gate behind the runners; and you shall keep the charge (mishmeret) of the house as a barrier.

7And the two divisions among you, all who go out on the Shabbat, they shall keep the charge (mishmeret) of the house of YHWH about the king.

8And you shall surround the king all around, each man (ish) with his weapons in his hand; and whoever comes into the ranks shall be put to death; and be with the king when he goes out and when he comes in."

9And the captains of the hundreds did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded (tzivvah); and they took each man (ish) his men (ish), those coming in on the Shabbat with those going out on the Shabbat, and they came to Jehoiada the priest.

10And the priest gave to the captains of the hundreds the spears and the shields that were king David's, which were in the house of YHWH.

11And the runners stood, each man (ish) with his weapons in his hand, from the right shoulder of the house to the left shoulder of the house, by the altar and the house, about the king all around.

12And he brought out the king's son, and put upon him the crown and the testimony (edut), and they made him king and anointed him; and they clapped the palm and said, "Long live the king!"

13And Athaliah heard the voice of the runners, of the people, and she came to the people, to the house of YHWH.

14And she looked, and behold, the king standing by the pillar according to the judgment (mishpat), and the captains and the trumpets by the king, and all the people of the land rejoicing and blowing with trumpets. And Athaliah tore her clothes and cried, "Conspiracy! Conspiracy!"

15And Jehoiada the priest commanded (tzivvah) the captains of the hundreds, those appointed over the force, and said to them, "Bring her out to outside the ranks, and whoever comes after her, put to death with the sword"; for the priest had said, "Let her not be put to death in the house of YHWH."

16And they laid hands on her, and she went by the way of the entrance of the horses to the king's house, and there she was put to death.

17And Jehoiada cut the covenant (berit) between YHWH and the king and the people, to be a people for YHWH; and between the king and the people.

18And all the people of the land came to the house of Baal and tore it down; its altars and its images they broke thoroughly, and Mattan the priest of Baal they killed before the altars. And the priest set overseers over the house of YHWH.

19And he took the captains of the hundreds and the Carites and the runners and all the people of the land, and they brought down the king from the house of YHWH, and came by the way of the gate of the runners to the king's house; and he sat on the throne of the kings.

20And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet; and Athaliah they had put to death with the sword at the king's house.
