2 Kings 12

Yeshua Literal Version (YLV)

1A son of seven years was Jehoash when he reigned.

2In the seventh year of Jehu, Jehoash reigned; and forty years he reigned in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Zibiah of Beer-sheba.

3And Jehoash did the right in the eyes of YHWH all his days, in which Jehoiada the priest instructed him.

4Only the high places were not removed; the people were still sacrificing and offering incense in the high places.

5And Jehoash said to the priests, "All the money of the holy things that is brought into the house of YHWH, current money, each man (ish) the money of souls (nephesh) of his valuation, all the money that comes up upon a man's (ish) heart to bring into the house of YHWH,

6let the priests take it to themselves, each man (ish) from his acquaintance; and they shall repair the breach of the house, wherever a breach is found there."

7And it came to pass, in the twenty-third year of king Jehoash, the priests had not repaired the breach of the house.

8And king Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest and for the priests, and said to them, "Why are you not repairing the breach of the house? And now, do not take money from your acquaintances, but for the breach of the house you shall give it."

9And the priests consented not to take money from the people, and not to repair the breach of the house.

10And Jehoiada the priest took one chest and bored a hole in its lid, and set it beside the altar, on the right as a man (ish) comes into the house of YHWH; and the priests who kept the threshold put there all the money that was brought into the house of YHWH.

11And it came to pass, when they saw that the money was much in the chest, the king's scribe and the high priest came up, and they bound up and counted the money that was found in the house of YHWH.

12And they gave the money that was weighed out into the hands of the doers of the work who were appointed over the house of YHWH; and they paid it out to the craftsmen of the wood and to the builders who worked on the house of YHWH;

13and to the masons and to the hewers of the stone, and to buy timber and hewn stones to repair the breach of the house of YHWH, and for all that went out upon the house for its repair.

14But there were not made for the house of YHWH basins of silver, snuffers, bowls, trumpets, any vessel of gold or vessel of silver, from the money that was brought into the house of YHWH.

15for to the doers of the work they gave it, and they repaired with it the house of YHWH.

16And they did not reckon with the men (ish) into whose hand they gave the money to give to the doers of the work; for in faithfulness they were acting.

17The money of guilt offering and the money of sin offerings was not brought into the house of YHWH; it was for the priests.

18Then Hazael king of Aram went up and fought against Gath and captured it; and Hazael set his face to go up against Jerusalem.

19And Jehoash king of Judah took all the holy things that Jehoshaphat and Jehoram and Ahaziah his fathers, kings of Judah, had sanctified, and his own holy things, and all the gold that was found in the treasuries of the house of YHWH and the king's house, and sent it to Hazael king of Aram; and he went up from upon Jerusalem.

20And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, are they not written on the book of the words of the days of the kings of Judah?

21And his servants arose and conspired a conspiracy, and struck Joash at Beth-millo, on the way that goes down to Silla.

22And Jozabad the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, struck him and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David; and Amaziah his son reigned in his place.
