1Now Elisha had spoken to the woman (ishah) whose son he had restored to life, saying, "Arise and go, you and your house, and sojourn wherever you can sojourn; for YHWH has called for a famine, and it shall also come upon the land for seven years."
2And the woman (ishah) arose and did according to the word of the man (ish) of God; and she went, she and her house, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.
3And it came to pass at the end of seven years, that the woman (ishah) returned from the land of the Philistines; and she went out to cry to the king for her house and for her field.
4Now the king was speaking to Gehazi the young man of the man (ish) of God, saying, "Recount to me now all the great things that Elisha has done."
5And it came to pass, as he was recounting to the king how he had restored the dead to life, that behold, the woman (ishah) whose son he had restored to life was crying to the king for her house and for her field. And Gehazi said, "My master the king, this is the woman (ishah), and this is her son whom Elisha restored to life."
6And the king asked the woman (ishah), and she recounted to him. And the king gave her a certain officer, saying, "Restore all that is hers, and all the produce of the field from the day she left the land even until now."
7And Elisha came to Damascus; and Ben-hadad king of Aram was sick. And it was told to him, saying, "The man (ish) of God has come here."
8And the king said to Hazael, "Take in your hand a present, and go to meet the man (ish) of God, and inquire of YHWH through him, saying, 'Shall I recover from this sickness?'"
9And Hazael went to meet him, and took a present in his hand, even every good thing of Damascus, a load of forty camels; and he came and stood before him, and said, "Your son Ben-hadad king of Aram has sent me to you, saying, 'Shall I recover from this sickness?'"
10And Elisha said to him, "Go, say to him, 'You shall surely live'; but YHWH has shown me that he shall surely die."
11And he set his face and held it steady until he was ashamed; and the man (ish) of God wept.
12And Hazael said, "Why is my master weeping?" And he said, "Because I know the evil that you will do to the children of Israel: their fortresses you will send into the fire, and their young men you will slay with the sword, and their little ones you will dash to pieces, and their pregnant women you will rip open."
13And Hazael said, "But what is your servant, the dog, that he should do this great thing?" And Elisha said, "YHWH has shown me you as king over Aram."
14And he went from Elisha and came to his master, and he said to him, "What did Elisha say to you?" And he said, "He said to me that you would surely live."
15And it came to pass on the next day, that he took the coverlet and dipped it in water and spread it over his face, and he died; and Hazael reigned in his stead.
16And in the fifth year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being king of Judah, Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.
17He was a son of thirty-two years when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
18And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab, for a daughter of Ahab became his wife (ishah); and he did the evil in the eyes of YHWH.
19But YHWH would not destroy Judah, for the sake of David his servant, as he had said to him, to give to him a lamp for his children all the days.
20In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and they made a king over themselves.
21And Joram passed over to Zair, and all the chariots with him; and he rose by night and smote Edom that surrounded him, and the captains of the chariots; and the people fled to their tents.
22And Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah until this day. Then Libnah revolted at that time.
23And the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written upon the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
24And Joram lay with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.
25In the twelfth year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel, Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah began to reign.
26Ahaziah was a son of twenty-two years when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Athaliah daughter of Omri king of Israel.
27And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did the evil in the eyes of YHWH, like the house of Ahab; for he was a son-in-law of the house of Ahab.
28And he went with Joram son of Ahab to the war against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth-gilead; and the Arameans smote Joram.
29And king Joram returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Arameans had smitten him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Aram. And Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.
