Acts 5

Yeshua Literal Version (YLV)

But a certain man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property,

and he kept back part of the price for himself, with his wife's full knowledge, and bringing a certain part, he laid it at the feet of the apostles.

But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your kardia(heart, soul-domain) to lie to the hagio(holy) pneuma(spirit) and to keep back part of the price of the land?

While it remained, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own exousia(authority)? Why is it that you have placed this deed in your kardia(heart, soul-domain)? You have not lied to men but to God."

And hearing these logos(word)s, Ananias fell down and breathed his last; and great fear came upon all who heard.

And the young men arose and wrapped him up, and carrying him out, they buried him.

Now an interval of about three hours came, and his wife entered, not knowing what had happened.

And Peter answered her, "Tell me whether you sold the land for so much." And she said, "Yes, for so much."

Then Peter said to her, "Why is it that you agreed together to test the pneuma(spirit) of the Lord? Behold, the feet of those who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out as well."

And she fell immediately at his feet and breathed her last; and the young men entered and found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.

And great fear came upon the whole ekklesia(called-out community) and upon all who heard these things.

And through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were occurring among the people; and they were all with one mind in Solomon's portico.

But none of the rest dared to associate with them; however, the people were holding them in high esteem.

And more believers in the Lord were being added, multitudes of both men and women,

to the extent that they were even carrying the sick out into the streets and laying them on cots and mats, so that when Peter passed by, even his shadow might overshadow some of them.

And also the multitude from the cities surrounding Jerusalem was coming together, bringing the sick and those troubled by akathartos(unclean) pneuma(spirit)s, all of whom were being healed.

But the high priest rose up, along with all who were with him — which is the sect of the Sadducees — and they were filled with jealousy,

and they laid their hands on the apostles and put them in a public place of custody.

But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the prison, and leading them out, said,

"Go, take your stand in the temple and speak to the people all the rhema(spoken-word)s of this zoe(life)."

Having heard this, they entered the temple about dawn and were teaching. Now the high priest and those with him arrived, called the Sanhedrin(council) together — even the whole senate of the sons of Israel — and sent to the prison to have them brought.

But the officers who came did not find them in the prison; and they returned and reported,

saying, "We found the prison shut in all security and the guards standing at the doors; but when we opened them, we found no one inside."

Now when the captain of the temple guard and the chief priests heard these logos(word)s, they were greatly perplexed about them as to what this could be.

But someone came and reported to them, "Behold, the men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple and teaching the people!"

Then the captain went along with the officers and brought them back, not by force, for they were afraid of being stoned by the people.

And when they had brought them, they stood them before the Sanhedrin(council), and the high priest questioned them,

saying, "We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name, and behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and intend to bring this man's blood upon us."

But Peter and the apostles answered and said, "We must obey God rather than men.

The God of our fathers raised up Yeshua(Jesus), whom you put to death by hanging Him on a tree.

God exalted this One to His right hand as Author and Savior, to grant metanoia(repentance, spiritual domain) to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

And we are His witnesses of these rhema(spoken-word)s, and so is the hagio(holy) pneuma(spirit), whom God has given to those who obey Him."

But when they heard this, they were cut to the quick and were deliberating to kill them.

But a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the nomos(law), respected by all the people, stood up in the Sanhedrin(council) and gave orders to put the apostles outside for a short time,

and he said to them, "Men of Israel, take care what you are about to do with these men.

For before these days Theudas rose up, claiming to be somebody, and a number of men, about four hundred, joined him; he was killed, and all who followed him were dispersed and came to nothing.

After this man, Judas the Galilean rose up in the days of the census and drew away people after him; he also perished, and all who followed him were scattered.

And so in the present case, I say to you, stay away from these men and let them alone, for if this plan or this work is from men, it will be overthrown;

but if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them; you may even be found to be fighting against God."

And they were persuaded by him; and calling the apostles in, they flogged them and ordered them not to speak in the name of Yeshua(Jesus), and released them.

So they went on their way from the presence of the Sanhedrin(council), rejoicing that they were counted worthy to be dishonored for the name of Yeshua(Jesus),

and every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease to teach and proclaim Yeshua(Jesus) as the Messiah(Christ).
