Amos 6

Yeshua Literal Version (YLV)

Woe to those at ease in Zion, and those secure on the mountain of Samaria, the notable men of the first of the nations, to whom the house of Israel comes!

Pass over to Calneh and see, and go from there to Hamath the great; then go down to Gath of the Philistines. Are they better than these kingdoms? Or is their border greater than your border?

O you who put far away the evil day, and bring near the seat of violence;

who lie on beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs from the flock, and the calves from the midst of the stall;

who improvise to the mouth of the harp; like David they devise for themselves instruments of song;

who drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief oils; but are not grieved for the breaking of Joseph.

Therefore now they shall go into exile at the head of the exiles, and the revelry of those who stretch themselves shall pass away.

My Lord (Adonai) YHWH has sworn by his soul (nephesh), declares YHWH, the God of hosts (tzevaot), "I abhor the pride of Jacob, and his palaces I hate; and I will deliver up the city and its fullness.

And it shall come to pass, if ten men (ish) remain in one house, that they shall die.

And a man's uncle shall lift him up, and he that burns him, to bring out the bones from the house; and he shall say to him that is in the innermost parts of the house, "Is there yet any with you?" and he shall say, "None." Then he shall say, "Hush! for we must not mention the name of YHWH."

For behold, YHWH commands (tzivvah), and he shall smite the great house into fragments, and the little house into chips.

Do horses run on the rock? Or does one plow with oxen? For you have turned judgment (mishpat) into poison, and the fruit of righteousness into wormwood.

You who rejoice in a thing of nought, who say, "Have we not by our own strength taken horns for ourselves?"

"For behold, I will raise up against you, O house of Israel, declares YHWH, the God of hosts (tzevaot), a nation; and they shall oppress you from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of the Arabah."
