1And Moses went and spoke these words to all Israel.
2And he said to them: "I am a son of a hundred and twenty years this day; I am no longer able to go out and to come in; and YHWH has said to me, 'You shall not cross over this Jordan.'"
3YHWH your God, he is the one crossing over before you; he will destroy these nations from before you, and you shall dispossess them; Joshua, he is the one crossing over before you, as YHWH has spoken.
4And YHWH will do to them as he did to Sihon and to Og, the kings of the Amorites, and to their land, whom he destroyed.
5And YHWH will give them up before you, and you shall do to them according to all the commandment (mitzvah) which I have commanded (tzivvah) you.
6Be strong and be courageous, do not fear and do not be terrified before them; for YHWH your God, he is the one going with you; he will not fail you nor forsake you.
7And Moses called to Joshua and said to him in the eyes of all Israel: "Be strong and be courageous; for you shall go with this people to the land which YHWH has sworn to their fathers to give to them; and you, you shall cause them to inherit it.
8And YHWH, he is the one going before you; he will be with you, he will not fail you nor forsake you; do not fear and do not be dismayed."
9And Moses wrote this Torah and gave it to the priests, the sons of Levi, who bore the ark of the covenant (berit) of YHWH, and to all the elders of Israel.
10And Moses commanded (tzivvah) them, saying: "At the end of seven years, at the appointed time (moed) of the year of release, in the feast (chag) of booths,
11when all Israel comes to appear before the face of YHWH your God in the place which he chooses, you shall read this Torah before all Israel in their ears.
12Assemble the people, the men (ish) and the women (ishah) and the little ones, and your sojourner who is within your gates, so that they may hear and so that they may learn, and fear YHWH your God, and observe to do all the words of this Torah;
13and their sons, who have not known, may hear and learn to fear YHWH your God all the days that you are living (chai) upon the ground (adamah) which you are crossing over the Jordan there to possess it."
14And YHWH said to Moses: "Behold, your days have drawn near to die; call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tent (ohel) of appointed time (moed), that I may command (tzivvah) him." And Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves in the tent (ohel) of appointed time (moed).
15And YHWH appeared in the tent in a pillar of cloud; and the pillar of cloud stood over the door of the tent.
16And YHWH said to Moses: "Behold, you are about to lie down with your fathers; and this people will rise up and go astray after the foreign gods of the land into whose midst it is going, and they will forsake me and break my covenant (berit) which I have cut with them.
17And my anger will burn against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they will be for devouring, and many evils and troubles will find them; and he will say in that day, 'Is it not because my God is not in my midst that these evils have found me?'
18And I, I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evil which he has done, for he has turned to other gods.
19And now, write for yourselves this song, and teach it to the sons of Israel; put it in their mouth, so that this song may be for me as a witness against the sons of Israel.
20For I will bring him to the ground (adamah) which I swore to his fathers, flowing with milk and honey, and he will eat and be satisfied and grow fat, and he will turn to other gods and serve them (avad), and they will spurn me and break my covenant (berit).
21And it will come to pass, when many evils and troubles find him, that this song will answer before him as a witness; for it will not be forgotten from the mouth of his seed; for I know his inclination which he is doing today, before I bring him to the land which I swore."
22And Moses wrote this song in that day, and taught it to the sons of Israel.
23And he commanded (tzivvah) Joshua the son of Nun and said: "Be strong and be courageous; for you, you shall bring the sons of Israel to the land which I swore to them; and I, I will be with you."
24And it came to pass, when Moses had finished writing the words of this Torah upon a book until their completion,
25that Moses commanded (tzivvah) the Levites, who bore the ark of the covenant (berit) of YHWH, saying:
26"Take this book of the Torah, and put it at the side of the ark of the covenant (berit) of YHWH your God, that it may be there for a witness against you.
27For I, I know your rebellion and your stiff neck; behold, while I am yet living (chai) with you this day, you have been rebellious against YHWH; and how much more after my death?
28Assemble to me all the elders of your tribes and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call to witness against them the heavens and the earth.
29For I know that after my death you will surely act corruptly and turn aside from the way which I have commanded (tzivvah) you; and the evil will befall you in the latter end of the days, because you will do that which is evil in the eyes of YHWH, to provoke him through the work of your hands."
30And Moses spoke in the ears of all the assembly of Israel the words of this song until their completion:
