1And YHWH said to Moses and to Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,
2"This month shall be for you the head of months; it is first for you of the months of the year.
3Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: On the tenth of this month they shall take for themselves, each man (ish) a lamb for a father's house, a lamb for the household.
4And if the household is too little for a lamb, then he and his neighbor who is near to his house shall take according to the number of souls (nephesh); each man (ish) according to the mouth of his eating you shall make your count for the lamb.
5A lamb without blemish, a male, a son of a year, shall be for you; from the sheep or from the goats you shall take it.
6And he shall be for you for a charge (mishmeret) before(ad עד) the fourteenth day of this month; and all the assembly of the congregation of Israel shall offer him (shachat) between the evenings.
7And they shall take from the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel, upon the houses in which they eat him.
8And they shall eat the meat (basar) in this night, roasted with fire, and unleavened bread; with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
9Do not eat from him raw, nor boiled at all in water, but roasted with fire — his head with his legs and with his inner parts.
10And you shall not leave any of him until morning; and that which remains of him until morning you shall burn with fire.
11And thus you shall eat him: your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat him in haste — it is the Passover to YHWH.
12And I will pass through the land of Egypt in this night, and I will strike every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from man (adam) to beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments — I am YHWH.
13And the blood shall be for you for a sign (ot) on the houses where you are; and I will see the blood and will pass over you, and there shall be no plague upon you to destroy when I strike the land of Egypt.
14And this day shall be for you for a memorial, and you shall keep it as a feast (chag) to YHWH; throughout your generations, as a statute (chuqqah) forever, you shall keep it as a feast.
15Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread; surely on the first day you shall remove leaven from your houses; for everyone eating leavened bread, from the first day until the seventh day — that soul (nephesh) shall be cut off from Israel.
16And on the first day a holy convocation (miqra-qodesh), and on the seventh day a holy convocation (miqra-qodesh) shall be for you; no work shall be done in them, except what must be eaten by every soul (nephesh) — that alone may be done for you.
17And you shall keep the unleavened bread, for on this very day I brought your hosts out from the land of Egypt; and you shall keep this day throughout your generations as a statute (chuqqah) forever.
18In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, in the evening, you shall eat unleavened bread, until the twenty-first day of the month, in the evening.
19Seven days leaven shall not be found in your houses; for everyone eating what is leavened — that soul (nephesh) shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether sojourner or native of the land.
20You shall eat nothing leavened; in all your dwellings you shall eat unleavened bread."
21And Moses called for all the elders of Israel and said to them, "Draw out and take for yourselves a flock according to your families, and offer the Passover (shachat).
22And you shall take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and touch the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin; and as for you, no man (ish) shall go out from the door of his house until morning.
23And YHWH will pass through to strike Egypt, and he will see the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts; and YHWH will pass over the door and will not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike.
24And you shall keep this thing as a statute (choq) for you and for your sons forever.
25And it shall be, when you come to the land that YHWH will give you, just as he has spoken, that you shall keep this service (avodah).
26And it shall be, when your sons say to you, 'What is this service (avodah) to you?'
27that you shall say, 'It is a sacrifice of Passover to YHWH, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt when he struck Egypt and delivered our houses.'" And the people bowed down and worshipped.
28And the children of Israel went and did so; just as YHWH had commanded (tzivvah) Moses and Aaron, so they did.
29And it came to pass at midnight that YHWH struck every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the house of the pit, and every firstborn of beast.
30And Pharaoh rose by night, he and all his servants and all Egypt; and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was no house where there was not one dead.
31And he called for Moses and Aaron by night and said, "Rise up, go out from the midst of my people, both you and the children of Israel; and go, serve (avad) YHWH as you have said.
32Take both your flocks and your herds, just as you have said, and go; and bless me also."
33And Egypt was strong upon the people, to hasten to send them out from the land, for they said, "We are all dead."
34And the people took up their dough before it was leavened, their kneading troughs bound up in their garments upon their shoulders.
35And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses, and they asked from Egypt articles of silver and articles of gold and garments.
36And YHWH gave the people favor in the eyes of Egypt, so that they let them have what they asked; and they plundered Egypt.
37And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand men on foot, apart from the little ones.
38And also a great mixed multitude went up with them, and flocks and herds, very much livestock.
39And they baked the dough that they had brought out from Egypt into cakes of unleavened bread, for it was not leavened; because they were driven out from Egypt and could not delay, and also they had not prepared provisions for themselves.
40And the dwelling of the children of Israel, that they dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years.
41And it came to pass at the end of four hundred and thirty years — and it came to pass on this very day — that all the hosts of YHWH went out from the land of Egypt.
42It is a night of watching for YHWH, for bringing them out from the land of Egypt; this is that night of watching for YHWH for all the children of Israel throughout their generations.
43And YHWH said to Moses and Aaron, "This is the statute (chuqqah) of the Passover: no son of a foreigner shall eat of him.
44But every man's (ish) servant, bought with money — when you have circumcised him, then he may eat of him.
45A sojourner and a hired servant shall not eat of him.
46In one house he shall be eaten; you shall not bring any of the meat (basar) outside from the house, and you shall not break a bone in him.
47All the congregation of Israel shall do it.
48And when a sojourner sojourns with you and would make a Passover to YHWH, let every male belonging to him be circumcised, and then let him draw near to do it, and he shall be as a native of the land; but no uncircumcised person shall eat of him.
49One Torah shall be for the native and for the sojourner who sojourns among you."
50And all the children of Israel did so; just as YHWH had commanded (tzivvah) Moses and Aaron, so they did.
51And it came to pass on this very day that YHWH brought the children of Israel out from the land of Egypt by their hosts.
