And the word of YHWH came to me, saying:
And you, son of man (adam), will you judge, will you judge the city of bloods? Then make her know all her abominations.
And you shall say, Thus said my Lord (Adonai) YHWH: A city shedding blood in her midst, that her time may come, and that has made idols against herself, to defile herself.
By your blood that you have shed you have become guilty, and by your idols that you have made you are defiled; and you have brought near your days, and you have come to your years; therefore I have made you a reproach to the nations, and a mocking to all the lands.
Those near and those far from you shall mock you, O defiled of name, full of tumult.
Behold, the princes of Israel, each man (ish) according to his arm, have been in you, in order to shed blood.
Father and mother they have treated lightly in you; to the sojourner they have dealt with oppression in your midst; the orphan and the widow they have wronged in you.
My holy things you have despised, and my Shabbat you have profaned.
Men (ish) of slander have been in you, in order to shed blood; and upon the mountains they have eaten in you; lewdness they have committed in your midst.
The nakedness of a father has been uncovered in you; the one unclean in her impurity they have humbled in you.
And each man (ish) with the wife (ishah) of his neighbor has done abomination; and each man (ish) has defiled his daughter-in-law with lewdness; and each man (ish) has humbled his sister, the daughter of his father, in you.
Gifts they have taken in you, in order to shed blood; interest and increase you have taken, and you have gained from your neighbors by oppression, and me you have forgotten, declares my Lord (Adonai) YHWH.
And behold, I have struck my palm at your dishonest gain that you have made, and at your blood that has been in your midst.
Shall your heart stand, or shall your hands be strong, in the days that I am dealing with you? I, YHWH, have spoken, and I will do it.
And I will scatter you among the nations, and I will disperse you through the lands, and I will consume your uncleanness out of you.
And you shall be profaned in yourself in the eyes of the nations; and you shall know that I am YHWH.
And the word of YHWH came to me, saying:
Son of man (adam), the house of Israel has become to me dross; all of them are bronze and tin and iron and lead in the midst of a furnace; dross of silver they have become.
Therefore thus said my Lord (Adonai) YHWH: Because all of you have become dross, therefore, behold, I am gathering you into the midst of Jerusalem.
As a gathering of silver and bronze and iron and lead and tin into the midst of a furnace, to blow fire upon it, to melt it, so will I gather you in my anger and in my fury, and I will set you down and melt you.
And I will heap you together, and I will blow upon you with the fire of my wrath, and you shall be melted in its midst.
As the melting of silver in the midst of a furnace, so shall you be melted in its midst; and you shall know that I, YHWH, have poured out my fury upon you.
And the word of YHWH came to me, saying:
Son of man (adam), say to her, You are a land not cleansed, not rained upon in the day of indignation.
A conspiracy of her prophets is in her midst, like a roaring lion tearing prey; they have devoured the soul (nephesh); treasure and precious things they take; her widows they have multiplied in her midst.
Her priests have done violence to my Torah, and they have profaned my holy things; between holy and common they have not separated, and between the unclean and the clean they have not made known; and from my Shabbat they have hidden their eyes, and I am profaned in their midst.
Her princes in her midst are like wolves tearing prey, to shed blood, to destroy souls (nephesh), in order to gain dishonest gain.
And her prophets have daubed for them with whitewash, seeing falsehood and divining for them a lie, saying, Thus said my Lord (Adonai) YHWH, when YHWH has not spoken.
The people of the land have practiced oppression and committed robbery, and the poor and the needy they have wronged, and the sojourner they have oppressed without judgment (mishpat).
And I sought from them a man (ish) building up a wall and standing in the breach before me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found none.
And I have poured out upon them my indignation; with the fire of my wrath I have consumed them; their own way I have given upon their head, declares my Lord (Adonai) YHWH.
