1And the word of YHWH came to me, saying:
2Son of man (adam), two women (ishah), daughters of one mother, there were.
3And they whored in Egypt; in their youth they whored; there their bosoms were pressed, and there were handled the teats of their virginity.
4And their names were Oholah the elder, and Oholibah her sister; and they became mine, and they bore sons and daughters. And their names: Samaria is Oholah, and Jerusalem Oholibah.
5And Oholah whored while under me, and she lusted after her lovers, after Assyria, the near ones,
6clothed in blue, governors and prefects, choice young men all of them, horsemen riding horses.
7And she bestowed her harlotries upon them, the choicest of the sons of Assyria all of them; and with all on whom she lusted, with all their idols she defiled herself.
8And her harlotries from Egypt she did not forsake, for with her they had lain in her youth, and they had handled the teats of her virginity, and they poured out their harlotry upon her.
9Therefore I gave her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the sons of Assyria, on whom she lusted.
10They uncovered her nakedness; her sons and her daughters they took, and her they slew with the sword; and she became a byword among the women (ishah), and acts of judgment they executed upon her.
11And her sister Oholibah saw, and she was more corrupt in her lust than she, and her harlotries were more than the harlotries of her sister.
12After the sons of Assyria she lusted, governors and prefects, near ones, clothed in perfection, horsemen riding horses, choice young men all of them.
13And I saw that she was defiled; one way was for both of them.
14And she added to her harlotries; and she saw men (ish) carved upon the wall, images of the Chaldeans carved in vermilion,
15girded with a waistband on their loins, with flowing turbans on their heads, the appearance of officers all of them, the likeness of the sons of Babylon, Chaldea the land of their birth.
16And she lusted after them at the sight of her eyes, and she sent messengers to them, to Chaldea.
17And the sons of Babylon came to her, to the bed of love, and they defiled her with their harlotry, and she was defiled by them; and her soul (nephesh) was alienated from them.
18And she uncovered her harlotries, and she uncovered her nakedness; and my soul (nephesh) was alienated from her, as my soul (nephesh) was alienated from her sister.
19And she multiplied her harlotries, remembering the days of her youth, when she whored in the land of Egypt.
20And she lusted after their concubines, whose flesh (basar) is the flesh (basar) of donkeys, and whose emission is the emission of horses.
21And you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when those from Egypt handled your bosom, for the sake of the breasts of your youth.
22Therefore, O Oholibah, thus said my Lord (Adonai) YHWH: Behold, I am rousing your lovers against you, those from whom your soul (nephesh) was alienated, and I will bring them against you from all around:
23the sons of Babylon and all the Chaldeans, Pekod and Shoa and Koa, all the sons of Assyria with them, choice young men, governors and prefects all of them, officers and called ones, riding horses all of them.
24And they shall come against you with weapon, chariot, and wheel, and with an assembly of peoples; buckler and shield and helmet they shall set against you all around; and I will give before them judgment (mishpat), and they shall judge you according to their judgments (mishpat).
25And I will set my jealousy against you, and they shall deal with you in fury; your nose and your ears they shall remove, and your remnant shall fall by the sword; they, your sons and your daughters, shall be taken, and your remnant shall be devoured by the fire.
26And they shall strip off your garments, and they shall take the articles of your beauty.
27And I will cause your lewdness to cease from you, and your harlotry from the land of Egypt; and you shall not lift up your eyes to them, and Egypt you shall not remember any more.
28For thus said my Lord (Adonai) YHWH: Behold, I am giving you into the hand of those whom you hate, into the hand of those from whom your soul (nephesh) was alienated.
29And they shall deal with you in hatred, and they shall take all your labor, and they shall leave you naked and bare; and the nakedness of your harlotries shall be uncovered, both your lewdness and your harlotries.
30These things shall be done to you because of your whoring after the nations, because you defiled yourself with their idols.
31In the way of your sister you have walked; and I will give her cup into your hand.
32Thus said my Lord (Adonai) YHWH: The cup of your sister you shall drink, the deep and the wide; it shall be for laughter and for derision; it holds much.
33With drunkenness and sorrow you shall be filled, the cup of horror and desolation, the cup of your sister Samaria.
34And you shall drink it and drain it, and its shards you shall gnaw, and your breasts you shall tear; for I have spoken, declares my Lord (Adonai) YHWH.
35Therefore thus said my Lord (Adonai) YHWH: Because you have forgotten me, and have cast me behind your back, so bear, you also, your lewdness and your harlotries.
36And YHWH said to me, Son of man (adam), will you judge Oholah and Oholibah? Then declare to them their abominations.
37For they have committed adultery, and blood is on their hands; and with their idols they have committed adultery; and also their sons, whom they bore to me, they made to pass over to them, for food.
38Yet this they did to me: they defiled my sanctuary on that day, and my Shabbat they profaned.
39For when they slaughtered their sons to their idols, then they came to my sanctuary on that day to profane it; and behold, thus they did in the midst of my house.
40And moreover, that they would send for men (ish) coming from afar, to whom a messenger was sent, and behold, they came; for whom you washed yourself, painted your eyes, and decked yourself with ornaments,
41and you sat upon a stately bed, with a table arranged before it, and my incense and my oil you set upon it.
42And the sound of a multitude at ease was in her; and to men (ish), from the multitude of man (adam), drunkards were brought from the wilderness, and they put bracelets upon their hands, and a crown of beauty upon their heads.
43And I said of her worn out in adulteries, Now they will commit her harlotries, even her.
44And he came to her, as one comes to a woman (ishah), a harlot; so they came to Oholah and to Oholibah, the women (ishah) of lewdness.
45But righteous men (ish), they shall judge them with the judgment (mishpat) of adulteresses, and the judgment (mishpat) of those who shed blood; for they are adulteresses, and blood is on their hands.
46For thus said my Lord (Adonai) YHWH: Bring up against them an assembly, and give them over to terror and to plunder.
47And the assembly shall stone them with stones, and cut them down with their swords; their sons and their daughters they shall slay, and their houses with fire they shall burn.
48And I will cause lewdness to cease from the land, that all the women (ishah) may be instructed, and not do according to your lewdness.
49And they shall put your lewdness upon you, and the sins of your idols you shall bear; and you shall know that I am my Lord (Adonai) YHWH.
