The hand of YHWH was upon me, and he brought me out in the spirit (ruach) of YHWH, and set me down in the midst of the valley, and it was full of bones.
And he caused me to pass by them round about, round about; and behold, they were very many on the face of the valley, and behold, they were very dry.
And he said to me: Son of man (adam), can these bones live? And I said: My Lord (Adonai) YHWH, you know.
And he said to me: Prophesy over these bones, and say to them: O dry bones, hear the word of YHWH.
Thus says my Lord (Adonai) YHWH to these bones: Behold, I will cause spirit (ruach) to enter into you, and you shall live.
And I will lay sinews upon you, and bring up flesh (basar) upon you, and cover you with skin, and put spirit (ruach) in you, and you shall live; and you shall know that I am YHWH.
And I prophesied as I was commanded (tzivvah); and as I prophesied there was a sound, and behold, a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone.
And I looked, and behold, sinews were upon them, and flesh (basar) came up, and skin covered them above; but there was no spirit (ruach) in them.
And he said to me: Prophesy to the spirit (ruach), prophesy, son of man (adam), and say to the spirit (ruach): Thus says my Lord (Adonai) YHWH: Come from the four spirits (ruach), O spirit (ruach), and breathe on these slain, that they may live.
And I prophesied as he commanded me (tzivvah), and the spirit (ruach) came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceedingly great army.
And he said to me: Son of man (adam), these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say: Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are cut off for ourselves.
Therefore prophesy and say to them: Thus says my Lord (Adonai) YHWH: Behold, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, O my people; and I will bring you to the ground (adamah) of Israel.
And you shall know that I am YHWH, when I open your graves and cause you to come up out of your graves, O my people.
And I will put my spirit (ruach) in you, and you shall live, and I will place you on your own ground (adamah); and you shall know that I YHWH have spoken and done it—declaration of YHWH.
And the word of YHWH came to me, saying:
And you, son of man (adam), take to yourself one stick, and write upon it: For Judah, and for the sons of Israel his companions; then take another stick, and write upon it: For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and all the house of Israel his companions.
And join them one to another for yourself into one stick, that they may become one in your hand.
And when the sons of your people speak to you, saying: Will you not tell us what these mean to you?
speak to them: Thus says my Lord (Adonai) YHWH: Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his companions, and I will put them with it—the stick of Judah—and make them one stick, and they shall be one in my hand.
And the sticks on which you write shall be in your hand before their eyes.
And speak to them: Thus says my Lord (Adonai) YHWH: Behold, I will take the sons of Israel from among the nations where they have gone, and gather them from every side, and bring them to their own ground (adamah).
And I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel, and one king shall be king to them all; and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more.
And they shall no more defile themselves with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions; and I will save them out of all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and I will cleanse them; and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
And my servant David shall be king over them, and one shepherd shall be for them all; and they shall walk in my judgments (mishpat), and keep my statutes (chuqqot), and do them.
And they shall dwell on the land which I gave to my servant Jacob, in which your fathers dwelt; and they shall dwell on it, they and their sons and their sons' sons, forever; and David my servant shall be their prince forever.
And I will make for them a covenant (berit) of peace; it shall be an everlasting covenant (berit) with them; and I will establish them and multiply them, and I will set my sanctuary in their midst forever.
And my tabernacle (mishkan) shall be over them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
And the nations shall know that I am YHWH who sanctifies Israel, when my sanctuary is in their midst forever.
