And he brought me back the way of the gate of the sanctuary, the outer one which faces the east; and it was shut.
And YHWH said to me: "This gate shall be shut, it shall not be opened, and no man (ish) shall enter by it, for YHWH, the God of Israel, has entered by it; and it shall be shut.
As for the prince, a prince he is; he shall sit in it to eat bread before YHWH; by the way of the porch of the gate he shall enter, and by its way he shall go out."
And he brought me the way of the north gate before the house; and I looked, and behold, the glory of YHWH filled the house of YHWH; and I fell upon my face.
And YHWH said to me: "Son of man (adam), set your heart and see with your eyes, and hear with your ears all that I am speaking to you concerning all the statutes (chuqqot) of the house of YHWH and concerning all its Torah; and set your heart to the entrance of the house, with every going forth of the sanctuary.
And you shall say to the rebellion, to the house of Israel: Thus says my Lord (Adonai) YHWH: Enough for you of all your abominations, house of Israel!
In your bringing in sons of a foreigner, uncircumcised of heart and uncircumcised of flesh (basar), to be in my sanctuary, to profane it, my house, when you offer my bread, the fat and the blood; and they broke my covenant (berit), toward all your abominations.
And you have not kept the charge (mishmeret) of my holy things; but you set keepers of my charge (mishmeret) in my sanctuary for yourselves.
Thus says my Lord (Adonai) YHWH: No son of a foreigner, uncircumcised of heart and uncircumcised of flesh (basar), shall enter into my sanctuary, of any son of a foreigner who is in the midst of the sons of Israel.
But the Levites who went far from me when Israel went astray, who went astray from me after their idols, they shall bear their iniquity.
And they shall be ministers in my sanctuary, having charge at the gates of the house and ministering to the house; they shall slaughter the burnt offering and the sacrifice for the people, and they shall stand before them to minister to them.
Because they ministered to them before their idols and became a stumbling block of iniquity to the house of Israel; therefore I have lifted up my hand against them, declares my Lord (Adonai) YHWH, and they shall bear their iniquity.
And they shall not draw near to me to serve as priest to me, nor to draw near to all my holy things, to the holy of holies; and they shall bear their shame and their abominations which they did.
And I will make them keepers of the charge (mishmeret) of the house, for all its service (avodah) and for all that is done in it.
But the priests, the Levites, the sons of Zadok, who kept the charge (mishmeret) of my sanctuary when the sons of Israel went astray from me, they shall draw near to me to minister to me, and they shall stand before me to offer to me the fat and the blood, declares my Lord (Adonai) YHWH.
They shall enter into my sanctuary, and they shall draw near to my table to minister to me, and they shall keep my charge (mishmeret).
And it shall be, when they enter the gates of the inner court, they shall wear linen garments; and no wool shall come upon them when they minister in the gates of the inner court and within.
Linen turbans shall be upon their heads, and linen breeches shall be upon their loins; they shall not gird themselves with sweat.
And when they go out to the outer court, to the outer court to the people, they shall put off their garments in which they minister, and lay them in the holy chambers; and they shall put on other garments, and they shall not sanctify the people with their garments.
And their heads they shall not shave, and they shall not let locks grow long; they shall surely trim their heads.
And no priest shall drink wine when they enter the inner court.
And a widow and a divorced woman they shall not take for themselves for wives (ishah); but virgins of the seed of the house of Israel, or a widow who is the widow of a priest, they may take.
And my people they shall teach the difference between holy and profane, and they shall make them know between the unclean and the clean.
And over a controversy they shall stand to judge; by my judgments (mishpat) they shall judge it; and my Torah and my statutes (chuqqot) in all my appointed times (moadim) they shall keep, and my Shabbat they shall sanctify.
And to a dead man (adam) he shall not come, to defile himself; except for father, or for mother, or for son, or for daughter, for brother, or for sister who has not been to a man (ish), they may defile themselves.
And after his cleansing, seven days they shall count for him.
And on the day he enters the holy place, to the inner court, to minister in the holy place, he shall offer his sin offering, declares my Lord (Adonai) YHWH.
And it shall be to them for an inheritance: I am their inheritance; and you shall give them no possession in Israel: I am their possession.
The grain offering and the sin offering and the guilt offering, they shall eat them; and every devoted thing in Israel shall be theirs.
And the first of all the firstfruits of everything, and every heave offering of everything, of all your heave offerings, shall be for the priests; and the first of your dough you shall give to the priest, to cause a blessing to rest upon your house.
Any carcass or torn thing, of bird or of beast, the priests shall not eat.
