Send a lamb to the ruler of the land, from Sela toward the wilderness, to the mount of the daughter of Zion.
And it shall be, like a wandering bird, a nest sent away, so shall the daughters of Moab be at the fords of Arnon.
Bring counsel, execute a decision; make your shadow like the night in the midst of the noonday; hide the outcasts, do not betray the fugitive.
Let my outcasts dwell with you, Moab; be a covert to them from before the spoiler; for the extortioner is at an end, the spoiling has ceased, the tramplers are consumed out of the land.
And a throne shall be established in mercy, and one shall sit upon it in truth, in the tent (ohel) of David, judging and seeking judgment (mishpat) and swift in righteousness.
We have heard of the pride of Moab, very proud; his haughtiness and his pride and his wrath, not so are his boastings.
Therefore Moab howls for Moab, all of it howls; for the raisin-cakes of Kir-hareseth you shall moan, surely stricken.
For the fields of Heshbon languish, the vine of Sibmah; the lords of nations have struck down its choice branches; as far as Jazer they reached, they wandered into the wilderness; its shoots were spread out, they passed over the sea.
Therefore I will weep with the weeping of Jazer for the vine of Sibmah; I will drench you with my tears, Heshbon and Elealeh; for upon your summer fruit and upon your harvest a shout has fallen.
And gladness and joy are gathered away from the fruitful field; and in the vineyards there is no singing, no shouting; no treader treads out wine in the presses; I have made the shout to cease.
Therefore my inward parts moan like a harp for Moab, and my inner being for Kir-heres.
And it shall be, when Moab is seen, when he has wearied himself upon the high place, and he comes to his sanctuary to pray, that he shall not prevail.
This is the word that YHWH spoke concerning Moab in time past.
And now YHWH has spoken, saying: Within three years, as the years of a hireling, the glory of Moab shall be brought to contempt, with all the great multitude; and the remnant shall be very small, few, not mighty.
