For behold, the Lord (ha-Adon), YHWH of hosts (tzevaot), is taking away from Jerusalem and from Judah support and stay, every support of bread and every support of water;
the mighty man and the man (ish) of war, the judge and the prophet, and the diviner and the elder;
the captain of fifty, and the man of honor, and the counselor, and the skilled craftsman, and the one understanding charms.
And I will give youths as their princes, and capricious ones shall rule over them.
And the people shall be oppressed, man (ish) by man (ish), and each man (ish) by his neighbor; the youth shall act insolently against the elder, and the despised against the honored.
When a man (ish) shall take hold of his brother in the house of his father: "You have a garment, you shall be our ruler, and let this ruin be under your hand."
He shall lift up his voice in that day, saying: "I will not be a binder of wounds; and in my house there is no bread and no garment; you shall not make me a ruler of the people."
For Jerusalem has stumbled, and Judah has fallen; because their tongue and their deeds are against YHWH, to rebel against the eyes of His glory.
The expression of their faces witnesses against them; and their sin like Sodom they declare, they do not conceal it. Woe to their soul (nephesh)! for they have dealt out evil to themselves.
Say of the righteous that it is well, for they shall eat the fruit of their deeds.
Woe to the wicked—it is ill; for the recompense of his hands shall be done to him.
My people—their oppressors are a child, and women (ishah) rule over them. O My people, those who lead you cause you to err, and the way of your paths they confuse.
YHWH stands up to contend, and stands to judge the peoples.
YHWH will enter into judgment (mishpat) with the elders of His people and its princes: "And you, you have consumed the vineyard; the plunder of the poor is in your houses.
What is it to you that you crush My people, and grind the faces of the poor?" declares my Lord (Adonai) YHWH of hosts (tzevaot).
And YHWH said: Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with outstretched necks and ogling eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and with their feet they make a tinkling;
Therefore my Lord (Adonai) will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and YHWH will lay bare their secret parts.
In that day my Lord (Adonai) will take away the finery of the anklets, and the headbands, and the crescents;
the pendants, and the bracelets, and the veils;
the headdresses, and the ankle chains, and the sashes, and the houses of the soul (nephesh), and the amulets;
the rings, and the nose jewels;
the festal robes, and the cloaks, and the shawls, and the purses;
and the mirrors, and the linen garments, and the turbans, and the mantles.
And it shall come to pass, that instead of perfume there shall be rottenness; and instead of a belt, a rope; and instead of well-set hair, baldness; and instead of a rich robe, a girding of sackcloth; a brand instead of beauty.
Your men shall fall by the sword, and your might in the war.
And her gates shall lament and mourn; and emptied out, she shall sit on the ground.
