1At that time Merodach-baladan son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah, for he heard that he had been sick and had recovered.
2And Hezekiah rejoiced over them, and showed them his treasure-house, the silver and the gold and the spices and the good oil, and all the house of his vessels, and all that was found in his treasuries; there was nothing in his house and in all his dominion that Hezekiah did not show them.
3And Isaiah the prophet came to king Hezekiah and said to him, "What did these men (ish) say, and from where did they come to you?" And Hezekiah said, "From a far land they have come to me, from Babylon."
4And he said, "What have they seen in your house?" And Hezekiah said, "All that is in my house they have seen; there is nothing among my treasuries that I have not shown them."
5And Isaiah said to Hezekiah, "Hear the word of YHWH of hosts (tzevaot):
6Behold, days are coming when all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have stored up until this day, shall be carried to Babylon; nothing shall be left, says YHWH.
7And of your sons who shall come forth from you, whom you shall beget, they shall take; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon."
8And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, "Good is the word of YHWH which you have spoken." And he said, "For there shall be peace and truth in my days."
