The spirit (ruach) of my Lord (Adonai) YHWH is upon me, because YHWH has anointed me to bring good tidings to the humble; he has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and opening to those who are bound;
to proclaim the year of favor for YHWH, and the day of vengeance for our God; to comfort all who mourn;
to appoint for those who mourn in Zion, to give to them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit (ruach); that they may be called terebinths of righteousness, the planting of YHWH, to be glorified.
And they shall build the ancient ruins, the former desolations they shall raise up; and they shall renew the cities of ruin, the desolations of generation and generation.
And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the foreigner shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.
But you shall be called the priests of YHWH, ministers of our God it shall be said of you; the wealth of nations you shall eat, and in their glory you shall boast.
Instead of your shame, double, and instead of disgrace they shall shout for joy over their portion; therefore in their land they shall possess double, everlasting joy shall be theirs.
For I, YHWH, love judgment (mishpat), I hate robbery in a burnt offering; and I will give their recompense in truth, and an everlasting covenant (berit) I will cut for them.
And their seed shall be known among the nations, and their offspring in the midst of the peoples; all who see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed YHWH has blessed.
I will greatly rejoice in YHWH, my soul (nephesh) shall be joyful in my God; for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation, with the robe of righteousness he has covered me, as a bridegroom decks himself as a priest with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her ornaments.
For as the earth brings forth its sprout, and as a garden makes its sowings spring up; so my Lord (Adonai) YHWH will make righteousness and praise spring up before all the nations.
