Jeremiah 44

Yeshua Literal Version (YLV)

The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews who dwelt in the land of Egypt, who dwelt at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Noph, and in the land of Pathros, saying:

Thus said YHWH of hosts (tzevaot), God of Israel: You yourselves have seen all the evil that I brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the cities of Judah; and behold, they are a ruin this day, and there is no inhabitant in them,

because of their evil that they did to provoke Me to anger, by going to burn incense, to serve (avad) other gods whom they did not know—they, you, and your fathers.

And I sent to you all My servants the prophets, rising early and sending, saying: Do not, please, do this abominable thing that I hate.

But they did not listen, nor incline their ear to turn from their evil, so as not to burn incense to other gods.

And My fury and My anger were poured out, and burned in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they became a ruin, a desolation, as at this day.

And now, thus said YHWH, God of hosts (tzevaot), God of Israel: Why are you doing great evil against your souls (nephesh), to cut off from you man (ish) and woman (ishah), infant and suckling, out of the midst of Judah, so as to leave you no remnant,

provoking Me to anger with the works of your hands, by burning incense to other gods in the land of Egypt, where you are entering to sojourn; so that you may be cut off, and that you may become a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?

Have you forgotten the evils of your fathers, and the evils of the kings of Judah, and the evils of his wives (ishah), and your own evils, and the evils of your wives (ishah), which they did in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem?

They have not been crushed even to this day, and they have not feared, nor walked in My Torah, nor in My statutes (chuqqot), that I set before you and before your fathers.

Therefore thus said YHWH of hosts (tzevaot), God of Israel: Behold, I am setting My face against you for evil, even to cut off all Judah.

And I will take the remnant of Judah who set their faces to enter the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed; in the land of Egypt they shall fall, by the sword, by the famine they shall be consumed, from the small even to the great; by the sword and by the famine they shall die; and they shall become an execration, an astonishment, a curse, and a reproach.

And I will visit upon those who dwell in the land of Egypt as I visited upon Jerusalem—by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence.

So there shall not be one escaping or remaining of the remnant of Judah who have entered to sojourn there in the land of Egypt, even to return to the land of Judah, to which they are lifting up their soul (nephesh) to return to dwell there; for they shall not return, except those who escape.

And all the men (ish) who knew that their wives (ishah) were burning incense to other gods, and all the women (ishah) who stood by, a great assembly, and all the people who dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying:

As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of YHWH, we are not listening to you.

For we will surely do every word that has gone out of our mouth, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink-offerings to her, as we did, we and our fathers, our kings and our princes, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and we were satisfied with bread, and were well, and saw no evil.

But since we ceased to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink-offerings to her, we have lacked everything, and by the sword and by the famine we have been consumed.

And when we were burning incense to the queen of heaven, and pouring out drink-offerings to her, was it without our husbands (ish) that we made for her cakes in her image, and poured out drink-offerings to her?

And Jeremiah said to all the people—to the men (ish), and to the women (ishah), and to all the people who had answered him a word—saying:

The incense that you burned in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, you and your fathers, your kings and your princes, and the people of the land—did not YHWH remember them, and did it not come up upon His heart?

And YHWH could no longer bear it, because of the evil of your doings, because of the abominations that you did; and your land became a ruin, an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.

Because you burned incense, and because you sinned against YHWH, and did not listen to the voice of YHWH, and in His Torah, and in His statutes (chuqqot), and in His testimonies (edut) you did not walk; therefore this evil has befallen you, as at this day.

And Jeremiah said to all the people, and to all the women (ishah): Hear the word of YHWH, all Judah who are in the land of Egypt:

Thus said YHWH of hosts (tzevaot), God of Israel, saying: You and your wives (ishah) have both spoken with your mouths and fulfilled with your hands, saying: We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink-offerings to her; you will surely establish your vows, and surely perform your vows.

Therefore hear the word of YHWH, all Judah who dwell in the land of Egypt: Behold, I have sworn by My great name, said YHWH, that My name shall no more be called in the mouth of any man (ish) of Judah, saying: As my Lord (Adonai) YHWH lives (chai), in all the land of Egypt.

Behold, I am watching over them for evil, and not for good; and all the men (ish) of Judah who are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until their end.

And those escaping the sword shall return from the land of Egypt to the land of Judah, few in number; and all the remnant of Judah who entered the land of Egypt to sojourn there shall know whose word stands—Mine or theirs.

And this is the sign (ot) for you—declaration of YHWH—that I am visiting upon you in this place, so that you may know that My words shall surely stand against you for evil.

Thus said YHWH: Behold, I am giving Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of those seeking his soul (nephesh); as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, his enemy, who sought his soul (nephesh).
