Jeremiah 49

Yeshua Literal Version (YLV)

Concerning the sons of Ammon. Thus says YHWH: Has Israel no sons? Has he no heir? Why then has Malcam taken possession of Gad, and his people dwell in its cities?

Therefore behold, days are coming, declares YHWH, that I will sound against Rabbah of the sons of Ammon an alarm of war; and it shall become a desolate mound, and her daughters shall be burned with fire; then Israel shall dispossess those who dispossessed him, says YHWH.

Wail, O Heshbon, for Ai is spoiled! Cry out, O daughters of Rabbah, gird yourselves with sackcloth; lament, and run to and fro among the sheepfolds; for Malcam shall go into exile, his priests and his princes together.

Why do you boast in the valleys, your flowing valley, O backsliding daughter, who trusts in her treasures, "Who shall come against me?"

Behold, I am bringing terror upon you, declares my Lord (Adonai) YHWH of hosts (tzevaot), from all who are around you; and you shall be driven out, every man (ish) straight before him, and there shall be none to gather the wanderer.

And afterward I will restore the fortunes of the sons of Ammon, declares YHWH.

Concerning Edom. Thus says YHWH of hosts (tzevaot): Is there no more wisdom in Teman? Has counsel perished from the prudent? Has their wisdom become rotten?

Flee, turn back, go deep to dwell, O inhabitants of Dedan; for I have brought the calamity of Esau upon him, the time that I have visited him.

If grape-gatherers came to you, would they not leave gleanings? If thieves by night, they would destroy only their fill.

For I have stripped Esau bare, I have uncovered his hiding places, and he is not able to hide himself; his seed is spoiled, and his brothers, and his neighbors, and he is no more.

Leave your orphans, I will keep them alive; and let your widows trust in me.

For thus says YHWH: Behold, those whose judgment (mishpat) was not to drink the cup shall surely drink; and are you the one who shall go altogether unpunished? You shall not go unpunished, but you shall surely drink.

For by myself I have sworn, declares YHWH, that Bozrah shall become a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all her cities shall become everlasting wastes.

A report I have heard from YHWH, and an envoy is sent among the nations: "Gather yourselves together, and come against her, and rise up for battle."

For behold, I have made you small among the nations, despised among men (adam).

Your horror has deceived you, the pride of your heart, O you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, who hold the height of the hill; though you make your nest high like the eagle, from there I will bring you down, declares YHWH.

And Edom shall become a desolation; everyone who passes by it shall be appalled and shall hiss at all its plagues.

As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighbors, says YHWH, no man (ish) shall dwell there, nor shall a son of man (adam) sojourn in it.

Behold, like a lion he comes up from the thickets of the Jordan against the strong habitation; but in a moment I will make him run away from it, and whoever is chosen I will appoint over it; for who is like me, and who will summon me, and who is this shepherd who can stand before me?

Therefore hear the counsel of YHWH that he has taken against Edom, and his purposes that he has devised against the inhabitants of Teman: surely the little ones of the flock shall drag them away; surely he shall make their habitation desolate over them.

At the sound of their fall the earth quakes; there is a cry, at the Sea of Reeds its sound is heard.

Behold, like an eagle he shall come up and swoop, and spread out his wings over Bozrah; and the heart of the mighty men of Edom in that day shall be like the heart of a woman (ishah) in her pangs.

Concerning Damascus. Hamath is ashamed, and Arpad, for they have heard evil news; they melt away; in the sea there is anxiety, it cannot be quiet.

Damascus has grown feeble, she has turned to flee, and trembling has seized her; distress and pangs have taken hold of her, like a woman in travail.

How is the city of praise not forsaken, the town of my joy!

Therefore her young men shall fall in her broad places, and all the men (ish) of war shall be silenced in that day, declares YHWH of hosts (tzevaot).

And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad.

Concerning Kedar and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon smote. Thus says YHWH: Arise, go up against Kedar, and spoil the sons of the east.

Their tents and their flocks they shall take, their curtains and all their vessels and their camels they shall carry off for themselves; and they shall cry against them, "Terror on every side!"

Flee, wander far, go deep to dwell, O inhabitants of Hazor, declares YHWH; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon has taken counsel against you, and devised a plan against you.

Arise, go up against a nation at ease, that dwells in security, declares YHWH; it has neither doors nor bar; they dwell alone.

And their camels shall be a plunder, and the multitude of their cattle a spoil; and I will scatter them to every spirit (ruach), those who clip the corners of their hair; and from every side I will bring their calamity, declares YHWH.

And Hazor shall become a den of great sea-creatures (tannin), a desolation forever; no man (ish) shall dwell there, nor shall a son of man (adam) sojourn in it.

That which was the word of YHWH to Jeremiah the prophet concerning Elam, at the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying:

Thus says YHWH of hosts (tzevaot): Behold, I am breaking the bow of Elam, the chief of their might.

And I will bring against Elam four spirits (ruach) from the four quarters of the heavens, and I will scatter them toward all these spirits (ruach); and there shall be no nation to which the banished of Elam shall not come.

And I will shatter Elam before their enemies, and before those who seek their soul (nephesh); and I will bring upon them evil, the heat of my anger, declares YHWH; and I will send the sword after them until I have consumed them.

And I will set my throne in Elam, and destroy from there king and princes, declares YHWH.

And it shall come to pass in the latter days that I will restore the fortunes of Elam, declares YHWH.
