1And Elihu answered and said,
2"Hear my words, you wise men; and you who know, give ear to me.
3For the ear tests words, as the palate tastes to eat.
4Let us choose for ourselves judgment (mishpat); let us know among ourselves what is good.
5For Job has said, 'I am righteous, and God has turned aside my judgment (mishpat);
6concerning my judgment (mishpat) I am made a liar; my wound is incurable, without transgression.'
7What man is like Job, who drinks scorn like water?
8And he goes in company with the workers of iniquity, and to walk with men (ish) of wickedness.
9For he has said, 'It profits a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.'
10Therefore, men (ish) of heart, hearken to me: far be it from God to do wickedness, and from Shaddai to do injustice.
11For the work of man (adam) He repays to him, and according to the path of a man (ish) He causes it to befall him.
12Yes, truly, God will not do wickedly, and Shaddai will not pervert judgment (mishpat).
13Who appointed Him over the earth? And who set the whole world upon Him?
14If He set His heart upon man, He gathers to Himself his spirit (ruach) and his breath (neshamah),
15all flesh (basar) would perish together, and man (adam) would return to dust (aphar).
16And if you have understanding, hear this; give ear to the voice of my words.
17Shall even one who hates judgment (mishpat) govern? And will you condemn the righteous and mighty One?
18Is it fit to say to a king, 'Worthless one,' to nobles, 'Wicked one'?
19Who does not lift up the face of princes, nor regards the rich before the poor; for they all are the work of His hands.
20In a moment they die, and at midnight the people are shaken and pass away; and the mighty are removed without a hand.
21For His eyes are upon the ways of a man (ish), and He sees all his steps.
22There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
23For He lays not upon a man (ish) yet more, that he should go before God in judgment (mishpat).
24He breaks the mighty without inquiry, and sets others in their place.
25Therefore He recognizes their works, and He overturns them in the night, and they are crushed.
26As the wicked He strikes them in the place of beholders,
27because they turned aside from following Him, and did not consider any of His ways,
28so that they caused the cry of the poor to come to Him, and He hears the cry of the afflicted.
29And when He gives quiet, who then can condemn? And when He hides His face, who then can behold Him? whether over a nation or over a man (adam) alike;
30that the godless man (adam) reign not, lest there be snares for the people.
31For has anyone said to God, 'I have borne chastisement, I will not act corruptly;
32what I do not see, You teach me; if I have done injustice, I will do it no more'?
33Should He repay it according to your terms, that you refuse it? For you must choose, and not I; therefore speak what you know.
34Men (ish) of heart will say to me, and a wise man who hears me:
35'Job speaks without knowledge, and his words are without insight.'
36Would that Job were tried to the end, because of his answers like the men (ish) of iniquity.
37For he adds transgression to his sin; he claps his hands among us, and multiplies his sayings against God."
