And the word of YHWH came to Jonah a second time, saying:
"Arise, go to Nineveh, the great city, and proclaim to it the proclamation that I am speaking to you."
And Jonah arose, and went to Nineveh, according to the word of YHWH. Now Nineveh was a great city to God, a journey of three days.
And Jonah began to enter into the city a journey of one day, and he proclaimed, and said: "Yet forty days, and Nineveh is overthrown."
And the men (ish) of Nineveh believed God; and they proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from their greatest to their least.
And the word reached the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and laid aside his robe from upon him, and covered himself with sackcloth, and sat upon the ashes.
And he cried out and said in Nineveh, by decree of the king and his great ones, saying: "Let man (adam) and beast, herd and flock, taste nothing; let them not feed, and let them not drink water.
And let man (adam) and beast be covered with sackcloth, and let them cry to God mightily; and let them turn each man (ish) from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their palms.
Who knows, God may turn and relent, and turn from his fierce anger, that we perish not?"
And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented concerning the evil which he had spoken to do to them, and he did not do it.
